I have a very manly reason for asking this, I promise you.

The buckle broke on the back protector I wear for motorcycle racing and I need to stitch a new buckle on to the strap.

My god there are so many wonderful jokes in that sentence I can't wait to see the responses. I would go with "what, your bareback protector broke and you need to buckle up your strap-on?"

Anyway. Here's what the back protector looks like (it's the one on the left) in case you're curious.

I assume you have a nylon strap you are attaching the buckle to? The strongest way to sew those is to put it through the buckle, fold it back over itself, then sew a square several times with an x in the middle of the square.
I'll try to find a pic of what I'm talking about.

Like this but sew it through several more times than this. Of course if it's not a nylon strap, forget everything I've said.

WTF do you need a back protector for? I've seen helmets, chest protectors, shin protectors, etc., but how pussified has this sport gotten when you've gotta have something to protect your back? From what?

You're thinking of dirtbiking. This is for roadracing. Think Valentino Rossi, not Travis Pastrana. You're trying to guard against abrasion, not impact.

I heard you the first time, and I'm old school. I'm thinking Roger DeCoster not Joey Dunlop. WTF are you doing roadracing motorcycles? That **** will get you killed.
