NORMAN — Oklahoma running back Jonathan Miller was arrested by Norman police Thursday night because he missed a spring court date for a traffic ticket issued last year.

The redshirt sophomore was initially ticketed in September 2010 for driving without a license, according to Cleveland County's courts database. He missed the April 29 court date to fight the charge and a warrant was issued May 13 for his failure to appear or pay the fines owed.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Miller was arrested at 9:58 p.m. Thursday at 750 Lindsey St., near the western fringe of OU's campus. He posted bond and was released from jail at 9:27 a.m. Friday.

Per its policy, OU declined Tuesday to confirm the incident and coach Bob Stoops is not expected to address it. Any punishment would be handled internally.

The season begins Sept. 3 against Tulsa. Miller is one of several running backs — along with Brennan Clay, Roy Finch and Brandon Williams — trying to earn carries. Given the number of snaps the preseason No. 1 Sooners intend to take, Stoops has indicated all of the backs will get some time.

On Monday, Stoops was complimentary of Miller, who is returning from a knee injury that cost him part of his freshman season and all of 2010. Miller rushed for 130 yards on 18 carries as a freshman, prior to the injury. Eighty-eight of those yards, and his only career touchdown, came in a game against Idaho State.

Why does this happen every year? Pay your ****ing tickets and show up for court. You think Stoops would have somebody on top of this by now to make sure simple **** like this gets done. Wasn't it Gresham that had this happen or am I making that up?

So can I infer that since he was arrested on Thursday evening, spent the night Thursday in jail, and was released on Friday morning, that he made practices the next few days. Further, surely Bob heard about itsoon thereafter, yet was complimentory about JMill on Monday, and didn't seem to upset about it all. Are we making too much about this?

BigD: I'd say that's a reasonable position. Just reporting it because...I dunno.

I thought this would be our year, but it's looking more and more like a 12-2 season. which is ok i guess

Whoa, slow down there mister I've got some good dirt on one of our player's.
We have all been young men with allot on our plate, and at times it was a bit overwhelming!
Yes we were not as smart as we should have been.... But will learn from this. Glass Houses..

Really? We lose a guy for "possibly" one game suspension and that automatically gives us 2 loses? Miller is probably the 4th guy in the rotation anyways behind Clay, Finch and B. Williams.

Let's call like it is first of all.
Why were you driving without a Drivers License to begin with Jonathan??? Dad gum it, you are a high profile running back of a high profile football program and you don't think you will get caught? I know you are just 20 yrs.old but use that head that the good Lord gave you.

when asked about Miller's status after practice today... Bob was quoted as saying... "I don't suspend guys for traffic tickets..."

It's not just about Miller. You need good fortune to win NC. The Sooners haven't had much good fortune since the end of last season. Think about it.

Albo, what's going on with you?
A young man did not pay some tickets.... Let it go.
He will learn from this and know he now has responsibility.

Since we can only play 13 games max this season, I vote we throw out one of the losses. 12-1 with the final win in Nawlins.

Just think about it guys. It could be worse. Imagine if all of those traffic tickets had mysteriously somehow actually been 'paid'.

I was just thinking that. I lost track of how many Norman traffic tickets I had back in the day. Strangely enough, a lot of them were acquired while visiting Suger's. For research, you know.

I started getting OU parking tickets when I was sixteen and parked in the street in front of the stadium for a game.
