Ive never understood everyones love with * unis. They are basically a carbon copy of OUs, except in puke orange with a reverse colored helmet. One would think that with those being the only real differences, that most people would prefer the beautiful crimson and cream over puke orange and white. Thats just my opinion.

Oregon State's Pro Combats from last year should be on there. Absolutely brilliant adaptation of a great retro look on modern uniform technology.

they'd never make any best uni list simply because it's Wake Forest and they rarely wear these particular unis, but I really like their old-school plain gold tops with the black pants.

I would not include Georgia, Auburn, Florida, USC or Va Tech. I prefer UNC, TCU (I like the purple and black, sue me), BYU, and Washington over those.

The note next to the Sooner uniform brings up a question I've had for a while. I'm not sure exactly when we switched from the flat crimson paint on the helmet to the formula they use now, but I thought it made a huge difference in the overall look of the uniform. I'm not sure if it's several extra layers of clear coat they've added, but those helmets almost look metallic under the lights.

The crimson on the OU helmet was updated with a richer, metallic paint for the 2000 season. The Sooners celebrated by winning the school's seventh national championship.

I think the very best uniforms are those that haven't changed much over the years. UT, OU, Alabama, etc.

That's how you build an iconic brand and identity. That's why I wish we'd stop changing our uniforms every other year.


And there is no way in hell that Oregon should be anywhere near that list.
