After two years of law school and hearing how bad the legal economy is, I just received an offer of employment at a large firm in Alabama. Pretty stoked.

Thanks!

The firm is offering a position in corporate/transactional or education litigation. Haven't decided yet.

Great news. I assume that your resume included your role as moderator on here, showing your talent for litigation.

Or maybe for going for the jugular.

Ha. I'm actually more inclined towards the transactional. Litigation requires you to be a controlled a-hole. I'm more of an uncontrolled a-hole, as you may have noticed.

Does that mean defending schools systems in litigation?

It's an offer for a full-time gig after graduation. I finish in May, take the AL Bar in July.

I'd strongly advise litigation, but that's me and you've got to follow what'll make you happy.
BTW, get your **** sorted before starting work. You've got five to seven years of 2000-2500 BILLABLE hours a year in front you before you can buy your junior partnership. And the senior partners' trophy wives (your age) will NEED their cute little drop top Benz's in the meantime.

That's why I do litigation - sufficient sphincter control.

Congrats, Mike. I know you said that was what you wanted, so glad you got it.

Having a job before finishing 3rd year gets the most urgent worry out of your way. I was not so lucky. Searching for work while going through 3rd year and preparing for the bar is typical for most. Congrats.

Thanks all. OhU1--yeah, 3L year is now "the year of degeneracy" for me. Playoff beard until the bar.
