True, Baylor teaches evolution, as does Notre Dame and Brigham Young. Liberty University (Falwell's school) teaches ID.

I don't have any hopes or dreams of his retirement. I don't have a college bound kid or any kids yet really, so the only reason I'd want him to retire is someone else might not be raising tuition as much as he has.

I don't really think he had much of an option, atl least recently. Especially since we had a temporary tuition freeze about year or two ago.

if you think the tuition hikes of the past few years have been bad, just wait until all of those federal budget cuts start trickling down to the state level. You ain't seen nothin yet.

He didn't have a choice then either... everyone else was doing it. While I'm sure the universities enjoy the fact that students can take out thousands in loans and the money goes directly to the universities with the students left holding the bill (and their families too), I am not altogether convinced that higher ed couldn't do more to hold down the cost of college... they just don't want to.

Inflation? Pbbbth. We can outdo inflation!

If the federal student loans stop, the tuition rises will have to stop too or people will finally be priced outta the market. Soooo... not sure what to make of that possibility.

Cheap and easy credit had a big part of that, as you state, when the "cheap" student loans go away they will have to change in some way.

A good fund raiser with a solid academic background.
The role of university president has changed, a politician seems better suited for the position than an academic. Just like for the AD's office, a business minded person makes more sense than a former coach, especially a golf coach.

Who replaces Boren?

Hopefully someone who won't stomp on the students' collective balls every year by continuously raising tuition, but touting that "we're still the cheapest in the Big XII." From 2001 (when I started) til now, tuition rates and fees have DOUBLED. Here's a thought...take some of that fundraising you're so awesome at getting for the football team and divert that to getting some faculty who speak the English language and who actually give a damn about the students' educations and NOT entirely about their research.

By the way the penis pumper is still pumping strong it appears. The police in Sapulpa had a stalking complaint on Thompson and they rolled up on him near the victims house. Thompson had his binoculars out and his pants unzipped.

All the above being said, who better to run our University? :P

Every school pretty much raises tuition every semester because they can, they did it when I was there in the early 80's. It is just a fact of life.

...of course my tuition/fees in the Fall of 82 for 15 hours was $341. I know that UT and A&M go up by more than that every year now. It was REAL cheap compared to now :D

If not Judge Thompson, then David Lee Flippo, multiple murderer and resident of Big Mac, because he punches really fast and we need a man of action to take over.

D.L. Flippo cut off the hands of a snitch with a sword and shoved them into another orifice. Despite his small stature he controlled whatever pod he was in at the Oklahoma County Jail. He openly called black inmates the N word and even raped a few of them. Flippo is not a very nice guy. I say the search committee should probably look at other candidates first.

...and Baylor. Baylor is traditionally a teaching university. EVERY single class at Baylor is taught by a full-fledged professor (with a couple of exceptions) by Baylor policy. No TA's or assistants. If you sign up for a class at Baylor, every day that you walk into that classroom you'll have a real professor.

Students also have full access to their professors via office hours, email, phone, etc. I never had a professor at Baylor that seemed as if they didn't care about each individual student and their education.

HOWEVER, that's starting to change as Baylor wants to get into more research in order to increase our academic ranking (which I strongly oppose...it'll destroy the traditional culture of Baylor).

Me.

I read the job description and I think I am, if anything, overqualified. $200,000 a year with a mansion, a generous expense account, a full staff and various modes of transport at my disposal. A state house of drooling morons to outmanuver and a campus composed of close to 10,000 coeds.
All I need do is hold the line on tuition and everyone loves me.

Hells Bells, people; so long as I'm not overly troubled about the future (2020 onwards), even I can't burn it all down much before then.

Huzzah! I'm off to the hustings!
