Honestly, it's not really bad. Yeah, OU is almost always ranked highly. That makes it pretty tough to finish as high as you start. Goes with the territory, and if you wouldn't take that over starting as a team "also receiving votes" and then finishing at 22 and saying it was a great season, then there's a problem there.

Forde basically says that OU's almost always favored, but usually loses a game somewhere. That's not really a slam.

So we made the article for having excellence expected every week of every year, and "only" delivering excellence most weeks. I'll take it.

I guess the term "recent" means 2 or less. 3 years ago OU played in the NC game. I would say that's contending. The year prior they were one of about 7 teams contending to play in the NC game.
