Recently (last winter) installed a power saver on my electric panel, been saving 45 bucks on average each month... great investment and you'll make the money back in 6 months.

$420... The damn thung is set on 80 and runs all day till about 11 at night. We only have 6 inch ducts in most of the rooms, and the insulation sucks. Of course we rent, so the landlord wont do a thing about enlarging the ducts.

$220 here too.
Not bad for record heat and a house built in 1964.

$150 on the dot. Put in a new AC unit 4-5 years ago & it's definitly paid for itself.

We have a 3000+ sq ft 2 story with 2 units and ours was about 140....that's the highest it has ever been. We keep the downstairs where we live at 74 and the upstairs at about 80. It seems to be working pretty well but does anyone know if that is the most efficient way to work the two zones?

The downstairs unit is the bigger and most efficient unit.

Parents is the same way. They have a curtain they pull over the staircase so seal off the 2 zones and just keep the balcony closed unless I'm home. 80 up top, 71 down below.

$340. It's the highest it's ever been. I don't pay for water/sewer since I'm on a well, but if I water, it goes way up.

Momma does keep the house at 74 during the day, and 70 at night. It's worth a few extra bucks to be able to sleep comfortably.

Would be nice to install a few solar panels and small wind turbines to help out... too bad it's illegal wtf.

Haven't got August yet, but our last bill that I got on 7-16 was $161 for 2100 Sq Ft.

Geothermal a/c., which also produces hot water. We are total electric, so that also includes all the well water. I'm sure August will crack $200. Still way better than my brother's $400.

We no longer have the outdoor compressor/fan, but if you do, don't forget to get out there with a hose and ultra high pressure nozzle and thoroughly clean out the fins all around the unit. Gunk can build up in there and decrease its efficiency. Need to be done every few months, I think.

Five bucks.

I ride a bike that's hooked up to a generator all day because unlike everyone else here, I love the environment.

I also have installed a platoon of mexicans to follow the family around with hand-crank fans. This more than anything is what really cuts power usage.

I wonder if my electric bill would be less if I would shut my basement door and closed off my sun room. Maybe put a curtin over my patio door door in the sun room.. My house is kept 72 degrees and it's running roughly 220-250 this summer.

Our last electric bill was $177. That was around $50 more than our previous record. We built our house last spring so I've only been in it a little over a year. We keep our house at 74 throughout the day and 69 at night. The Energy Star ratings are no joke!

Electric companies won't let people install solar or wind turbines for the most part. I took electronic engineering last sem and from what I gathered, it's a real headache to get the 'ok' for it. Plus, if they find out you installed without their approval, they fine the hell out of you or something like that.

wouldn't a solar panel be kinda lumped in with a back up generator type case?

I mean heck you are allowed to have a backup generator, dont' see why you couldn't use solar power

I think you are wrong...I think the electric companies have to buy any excess you generate...

It does need to be hooked up properly but I don't think the electric company can stop you...

I'd like to see those in the middle class and above pay higher utility bills to help those who are too lazy or unable to pay their electric bills.

Can we get this for cell bills too?

This ^^^^ in Oklahoma.

Biggest problem is usually the neighbors, neighborhood assoc. rules, zoning, etc.
Have one down the road....was OK when installed......neighbors complained to the city afterwards, and caused it to be disconected. (noisy)

You are doing "fabulous"! Are you in Oklahoma????
Ours is 3K sq ft also; and when we bought, we purposed to buy a one-level ranch style over a two story for that reason.
Having the different "zones" (and more efficient unti) is what's keeping you so $low.

Be happy!

Yes, we are in Sand Springs. I guess the zoning helps plus we basicly live in the downstairs unless we have company. I guess we got lucky.

That's actually the reason why. They don't want to have to buy back anything. You guys are smart, google it.

$212 in a house that's just under 1,400 square feet.

And with the temp over 100 degrees every day during our billing period.

Not bad at all. I'd say the 2 ton air handler put in in June is starting to pay dividends. :D

My bill one month was over $1000. Went on vacation and something happened to a circuit board which caused the heat and air into an epic battle. (At least that's the way I remember it.) Sucked because I was renting the place but couldn't get the management company to pay...
