ESPN announced on Thursday that "College GameDay" will broadcast from the OU-Florida State football game Sept. 17 in Tallahassee, Fla. This will be Oklahoma's 26th appearance on the show.

The announcement, which came one day after the preseason USA Today coaches poll confirmed the game would be a top-five matchup, came as no surprise to the show's crew.

"GameDay" host Erin Andrews recently said the crew was looking forward to covering the game at Doak S. Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.

“The environment is going to be unbelievable with the No. 1 team in the nation," Andrews said. "It will be very personal with the Stoops brothers (OU coach Bob Stoops and FSU defensive coordinator Mark Stoops) on both sidelines. That will be fantastic. That’s one we have circled on our calendars.”

ESPN also announced the show's first two stops: • Sept. 3 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for the Oregon-LSU game • Sept. 10 at Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Michigan-Notre Dame game

In OU's 25 previous appearances on "GameDay," the Sooners are 17-8. Oklahoma is the third-most featured team in "GameDay" history, behind Florida (32) and Ohio State (29).

Last season, the show was on location for two of the OU's games — at Missouri and at Oklahoma State. OU went 1-1 in those games, losing to Missouri and beating OSU.

"College GameDay" is a college football preview show that first aired in 1987. In 1993, "GameDay" began broadcasting live outside the stadium where the featured matchup was being held. http://www.oudaily.com/news/2011/aug/05/espns-college-gameday-be-ou-florida-state-game/

Are Gameday games considered "big games"?

Week 2, I say Alabama-Penn State, Oklahoma State-Arizona, and maybe BYU-Texas.

Here, see for yourself:

Michigan-Notre Dame won't feature two national title contenders, but both teams should be able to put up some points. If Bama can find a QB who isn't Garrett Gilbert, they should handle Penn State fairly easily, despite it being at Beaver Stadium.
