the drought we are in is worse than the dust bowl. Just advances in land management have prevented such a mess again.

It is amazing how many people who live out here on the west coast have roots in Oklahoma going back to the Dust Bowl days. Their families gave up and moved out here, and over time many of them became left coast wussified wimps!

Yeah, I don't know about weather conditions then as to now, but the "dust" part of the dust bowl was caused by inefficient farming. We've learned from that.

there were so many Okies & descendants of Okies in places like Bell,Bell Gardens & South Gate, that the area was known as "Billy Goat Acres".

The Okies that moved out there were VERY tough & didn't turn into "wimps".
Maybe their kids did. Lotsa folks on west coast are not wimps.

Roosevelt got into the war, so everybody went into the military or got a job in a defense plant. Lockheed where i (much later) worked had 90,000
employees. Just in Burbank. Lockheed appears to have left Burbank & moved to Palmdale.
