The 2011 football season is almost here, and we wanted to update you on your season ticket order. In a continued effort to better serve our fans, we are sending out an e-mail to inform you that your tickets are on their way!

We mailed your season ticket order on Monday, August 1st via 1st Class United States Postal Service.

If you have not received your football season tickets within 8-10 business days, please call The University of Oklahoma Athletics Ticket Office at (800)456-GoOU or (405)325-2424.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, September 3 as the Oklahoma Sooners take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to kickoff the home season in our quest for the Big 12 Conference and National Championships.

Unless you donate, get ready for a long, long wait. I was on the list for over 4 years....donated (lowest level) to the Sooner Club.....and BOOM.....got the season tickets.

This may not be the case every time.....but from what I hear that seems to be "normal".

My family had season tickets from 1972-1992. After going to games where people were practically giving tickets away, in the early 90's I stopped getting them. For the next couple of years I would take my two boys, ages 11 and 6 at that time, to the games and we would each hold up three fingers. More times than not people would come up and just give us tickets. Sometimes we would end up with extra tickets and would look for people to give them to. Well the first game of 1995 we headed up to start looking for tickets. People were not only not giving away tickets they were asking over face value. Howard Drunkenberger had arrived and the masses were sure we were back on track. Standing there thinking it was going to be a long season trying to find tickets every week I noticed a line on the north side of the stadium. I ask someone what the line was for and they said they are selling season tickets. I got my two sons and got in line. Back then they had youth tickets and adult tickets. I was going to get one adult and two youth but decided I would go ahead and get two adult and two youth. Have had the same tickets ever since.

My son, who turned 29 yesterday, has had 2 tickets in his name, since he was 4 years old. Applied when he was born and got them four years later. A lady I work with has bought them from us every year since. When he is my age he will have been a 52 year season ticket holder. :eek:

We moved up here from the Texas Hill Country while Blake was the coach and had two adult and three student season tickets which morphed into five adult and the price is sure a lot more than they were in 1997! But the team is so much better that it is worth every penny. We don't have to donate but I started donating to get better seats for the Bowl Games.

There are two ways I can think of to cause any big movement on the non-donating list. 1) economy REALLY tanks and folks can no longer afford tickets 2) a replay of the 1990's and lots of folks don't want tickets

Either scenario sounds bad to me so I'm going to have to say sorry to those folks and recommend they hand over the $200 like I did. I put my name on that long list one fall and the next spring a pretty colored notice arrived in my mail offering me such an opportunity. :D
