We are forced to use Courier New at work. Times Roman is cooler. Sometimes my documents default to Shruti, which is troubling, because I don't want no foreigner fonts in my All American Word document.

I don't care what font folks use as long as they make a semi-attempt at proper spelling and punctuation.

I love the New Times Polish.

I love the New Times Polish.

New Time Polish is stubbornly difficult and coarse, simple, and oh so traditional and rigid, and the butt of a lot of jokes in the office. I use that font when I do letters to our union board.

I love it when people use comic sans as their default font...at work.

We are sorry to inform you of this but unfortunately Mr. Harris we are left with no alternative but to suspend you without pay indefinitely pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Times Roman is where it's at. Courier looks weird after years of using Times Roman. But my beef is with Word -- it sucks! I've used WordPerfect since 1988, and I'm being forced to deal with a lousy, poorly designed, word processing program that takes twice as many steps as WordPerect.

We are supposed to use Museo, but since most people dont have that installed we're allowed to also use trebuchet. I like saying trebuchet...I believe it's a french catapult.

Comic Sans MS for fun stuff

Arial for everything else.

I'm surprised that my company doesn't dictate what font we use.

Same here. WP did not have nearly as many bells and whistles as Word, but it was also easier to use. The only problem was every other company started using Word, so inter-company transmissions were always a problem until we used Word.

Personally, I think Estrangelo Edessa is the most simple and powerful of fonts, simple and strong, even more so than Calibri. Poor Richard is a loser, nerd font.

I like Arial. It is clean, neat and easy on the eyes. My company uses only Univers 45 on all publications. It is distinctive and may look good at a distance. But, I have to zoom in to 200% to actually read it and I work on a big screen monitor. I still can't see the difference between a comma and a full-stop.

I agree and it's what I use, but apparently it is getting to be considered "old fashioned" among typeface designers.

Courier is fugly and comic sans is "special."

Definitely agree about how ugly Courier font is. And, I hate Angsana which was the default font for many years in Thailand because Thai script was only available in Angsana.

์Now, we have a variety of fonts. I hope that I spelled my own name correctly here. I can easily read the first two. The last two are more difficult with small font size.

**** Comic Sans! That font needs to die in a fire.

As for me, my font choices go from David Carson (http://www.designingwithtype.com/essays/images/essayCarson.gif) to Massimo Vignelli (http://conceptgenius.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/2-25-subway-vignelli-1.jpg).

David Carson gets super crazy with his design. Anybody remember Ray Gun magazine in the mid-90's that had the crazy off the wall designs? That was him. Massimo Vignelli loves Helvetica (the corporation font) and it's simplicity. Which is why he was the perfect choice doing the New York Subway System maps. As I said, I go back and forth.

As you can see I got a little crazy but not too much. In the first one I used Gill Sans, a personal favorite, to communicate the information. However, I'm not afraid to go for the 'grunge' look to grab somebody's attention.

When it came to my senior capstone, I went for a more clean font in Gotham. I thought about Helvetica but it has no personality. Gotham is an architecture based font so it fit perfectly.

So it's hard for me to choose my "favorite" font as sometimes I will get into a Helvetica mood and sometimes I'll just go ****ing crazy.

My least favorite font is Comic Sans and Arial. If you're going to use Arial, just go ahead and use Helvetica. Arial is a Microsoft rip-off. Comic Sans is so overused and is just an awful font. Seriously, the first thing you learn in graphic design is they tell you, "DO NOT USE THIS FONT!" I used it once in a project just to see what the professor would do. He had a conniption.

Alright, my typography nerd rant is over.

I think we need to make a distinction here between big signs/slogans and page-after-page of straight text, which is what I have to deal with every day. Text, in my opinion, is just easier to read sans serif.

For drafting plans in AutoCad or MicroStation I prefer Arial. It makes the notes clean and easy to read even on half size 11x17 drawings.

My favorite is a font distributed by Microsoft called Consolas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consolas). It's a monospace font that I've used for writing code for a few years now. I like it so much that it other than Office it's the only MS thing that remains after moving to Mac.

Least favorite is probably Arial, just because it's what everyone wants to use. It's just boring.

So, I settle for the Font of Youth!

I just re-wrote our company policy and mandated Times New Roman, I think it just looks professional.

I basically did this because of the chicks that were using Comic Sans, even in correspondence with physicians.
