An excerpt:

"I'm small and scared of people," Michael Richardson writes to District Judge Darrell Shepherd in a letter filed this month in Wagoner County District Court. "I am being comptetly 100% with you. Judge I'll do anything. Just please don't send me to the Pin.

"The DA wants to send me away for 20-25 years. Sir please don't send me away for that long. I'll get killed or starve because im to scared to defend myself."

You're the judge what do you do, keeping in mind this teen is accused of killing a man.

File this under "things one should consider before they kill someone"

The grammar judge should give him an extra five years for that letter.

Any letter a party sends to a judge ex parte (or probably otherwise) becomes part of the court's file.

If I was the judge here, I doubt I'd show any leniency. I don't know a thing about the case except what I read in that kid's letter. There's nothing there which I think mitigates first degree murder. If they jury recommended 20-25, that sounds fine.

Murder one is probably the right charge in this case....If you buy that it wasn't premeditated on the kids part, then it would still only drop down to a Murder 2 or Manslaughter, both of which can still carry Life Sentences as the penalty...Kid is gonna spend a lot of time in jail regardless.

Doesn't help his case that in his letter he admitted to having the gun in his hand and it going off.

How sad. Kid's had a fd up life, but that doesn't excuse murder.

I'd tell the kid to take some writing classes while he is in jail. He may want to avoid the showers, get started on some push ups and other strength training, but that his rear is headed to the clink.

I think the fact that the bitch didn't pay him the $6000 she owed him for killing her husband should be a mitigating factor in his sentencing.

Quite seriously, he should strongly consider suicide. What's left in front of him is not worth the hassle, the physical and emotional pain he will undoubtedly experience and there will be zero awaiting him of any worth whatsoever when he gets out.
He had a life, he doesn't anymore; just a long road of misery. End it now.

There was a teacher in Tampa who was either convicted or pled guilty to diddling her underage students. Her attorney said at her sentencing, "Judge, she is too pretty to send to prison. She will not survive."

He managed to say that with a straight face.

The judge bought it!!!

All hail the Sixth Amendment!

The dude needs a hug more than a prison sentence. He wasn't hugged enough as a child, therefore, normal rules should not apply to this guy.

I sentence him to 50 hugs and he must write one paragraph explaining why killing people is bad.

The wife is the more evil person here, but the killer lived over 100 miles away from them. He didn't know how to get out of that situation? How about not returning calls/texts/Facebook stuff?

I bet prosecutors love Facebook and how some folks will literally post anything on there.

I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. I didn't want to do it- I felt I owed it to them.
