It is becoming a widespread rumor that Ronell Lewis will not be eligible to play next season due to grades. Is there any truth to this rumor? Seeing how he just got tagged as a preseason All-Big XII player, and we are very thin on the DL front I thought we would be on top of this guy. Any news?

I realize I'm going to be shredded for saying this.....but I don't get all the aura of supremacy surrounding Ronnell. Sure.....he's landed some big hits running down on kickoffs but he hasn't exactly dazzled anybody on defense. Could this be his breakout year? Maybe......but I don't agree with this consensus legendary status that seems to have anointed him god-like fervor among the fan base. He hasn't earned that yet.

I think the issue is that he looks like he could turn into a very good player (he's got the physical part down - just needs to have better understanding). However, we are not exactly deep at that position and any loss of a potential starter is a bad deal.

I actually think we've got okay depth at DE which is where he's going to play, if he plays, this year. I want to see him play. I am obcessed by my desire to see him literally kill someone on the UT team with a massive blunt force blow.
But no, if he doesn't play, or doesn't live up to the hype, it won't kill this year's team.

He had some nice plays. He was playing an entirely new position and I think he did well. The reason I believe all of us are concerned is Ronnell has the potential to become great. Also we NEED him to become great this year. He is going to be an impact player this year I can feel it.
