Easier access to Mental Health Care might have prevented this. Obviously this guy should have been locked up long before this incident. Society failed to realize it.

Apparently this guy's record was clean. Who's to say that easier access would have prevented this? Maybe it would, but sometimes people won't recognize that they need help, or just refuse to take it when offered. Sometimes there are just crazy people that will never be known to society until something like this happens. I'm all for more access, though. Just a sad, sad deal.

There was some lady a few years ago up in NYC that let her 9ish y.o. son get himself home from school on the public transit system to prove that it was safe. I couldn't find the article but I'm sure she is re-thinking that theory right now. I just wont take a chance on my kids even here in suburbia until they are able to defend themselves (run, fight off) or have some sense to leave a bad situation.
