Have recently seen three good ones:

Back and Forth (Foo Fighters)
End of the Century (The Ramones)
Beyond the Lighted Stage (Rush)

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Anvil: The Story of Anvil (I vaguely remember them from the 80s...almost a real life Spinal Tap)
New York Doll (focuses on Arthur Kane...bassist for the New York Dolls. Worthy documentary even if you aren't familiar with the band. Very touching.)
Lemmy
Love that Rush documentary as well. And agree with the Wilco suggestion above.

I'm a little biased towards one band in particular, see if you can figure out which:

"Gimme Shelter"-The Rolling Stones (wonderful documentary about the free concert at Altamont that has been said to have officially ended the 60's and the hippie era. The Hells Angels worked security and killed a man in front of the stage, which is caught on film, sorta)

"Stones in Exile"-The Rolling Stones (explains the situation and how the worlds greatest album Exile on Main Street was written/recorded/etc.)

"Shine a Light"- The Rolling Stones (Martin Scorsese's documentary on the Stones)

"c.ock.sucker. Blues" -The Rolling Stones (it use to be difficult to find this one, but it's my favorite)

The Song Remains the Same isnt really that good...the two disc set that came out a few years ago with the desert on the cover is much much better.

I want to watch Stones in Exile, just havent found the time.

I've always heard that XXXXSucker Blues can only be showed one time a year with the director in the room. I'm guessing the internet makes getting a copy easier? It's not on youtube I'd guess since its so graphic from what I hear..

There was one about a year or two ago with Jack White, Jimmy Page and the Edge that was pretty cool.

I own ********** blues, internet was my friend (but it was about 9 yrs ago). It's got some semi-pron scenes.

Also, The White Stripes "Under Great White Northern Lights" is wonderful.

seems like more of a concert DVD than documentary, but Under Blackpool Lights was good as well
