Here is a totally hypothetical situation: If it was already predetermined that we were going to win our 8th National Championship. Let's say Jesus, Allah and L. Ron Hubbard have proclaimed 2011 our year. Who would you want to play and beat to win it?

My top 5:
1)USC
2)Florida
3)LSU
4) Nebraska
5)Boise State

LSU. Especially if we won by a combination of our brilliant play and some major Les Miles screw-up.

This year? It's LSU in the Sugar Bowl with no question. I'd like to 2003 A&M them.

Do Sooners really wanna play LSU in New Orleans again? I'm sorry, i don't

Can you imagine the LSU fans if the Sooners hung 77 on them? They'd probably make the Vancouver hockey fans look like choir boys.

If we're guaranteed a win it wouldn't matter...

If you were in the Sugar Bowl that night and you want to do that again....win or lose......You are nuts.......That was life and death....

Yeah, it's "hypothetical." We'd rather dream than do the real thing... ;)

Ummmmmm I don't know if you read above but L Ron. Hubbard guaranteed us a victory. Sooners win WHOEVER we play no matter what in this situation....granted that after we win the entire team must be audited and we must proclaim that their is only one true god and his name is L Ron and no other gods shall come before him.

I am willing to sell what little soul I have left for number 8. Aren't you or are you not a "team player?"

I wuld love to see OU-UA in the title game. Living in Alabama, I would hear for a month and a half how we would get beaten so badly and then would get to watch OU stomp them in the ground and the I would just listen to them make excuses about why we won and they didn't.

Our opponent in N'awlins will probably come out of the SEC and it will be a
home game for whoever it is...not my favorite scenario.

If the game was in pasadina, usc.
If in miami, uf, fsu or um

It can't be USC because they are on probation.

Florida will probably suck this year.

We won't get any credit for beating Boise State.

Ditto Nebraska because we always beat Nebraska when it counts.

So it would have to be LSU and certainly they owe us another shot at em . . .

I think that's why it's "hypothetical."

It'll be Bama if it's this year. Trent Richardson will also be a Heisman finalist along with Landry Jones in my prediction.

SoonerofAlabama

As long as we are talking Heisman, I think the only way Luck doesn't win it is if Stanford has a 3 to 4 loss season. Which is what I think will haoppen to Stanford.

Given the premise of the thread, i'd want to beat the team that would suffer the most if they lost (the fans, that is). Clearly, that would be LSU this season as they would be assuming a win in their home away from home. And since we get to fantasize here, I can't decide if I'd prefer a beat down, or have them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Either would be sweet.

I understand the motivation behind those select teams being OUr opponent in this fantasy. Of those teams, I'd prolly pick lsu just because.

But think of the pregame crap we'd have to endure prior to the game if the Sooners face any of those teams (except Neb :) ) All the videos and articles describing once again the epic loss that team had inflicted on OU.

Which would make the victory even sweeter, if that is possible.

Boise State.

Reason = because that means every other "contender" has to be utterly embarassed durign the regular season, and we get comic relief by watching them choke, and by beating Boise State instead of some other powerhouse team. :D

1. Texas
2. LSU/Alabama/SEC
3. Boise State (so they can finally shut up about being as good as BCS schools)
4. SUC

Speaking of NC games, Apparently Lindy's magazine has Oklahoma State and Alabama for the NC and says OSU will beat us on Dec. 3rd. All I see this as is the Poke Choke.

Anyone seriously, you know how hard it is to just make it to a national title game?

Quik Sand
7/8/2011, 07:38 AM
a victory over ANY opponent would be sweet for #8, but these especially:

1. LSU - Les Miles, "road" game, etc
2. Boise - STFU about the Fiesta Bowl
3. Texas - Would put them at 1 if this was a possibility
4. Florida - With Meyer / Tebow gone not the same
5. USC - 55-19. Even with revenge people will say not the same quaility as Pete's teams

BoulderSooner79

Why would anyone want to play the horns in a title game since we would probably have beaten them on the way?
