The bicentennial, what a great year. I guess musically, you got stuck there . . .

I dont think a genre exists today which would be a direct translation to the style of rock you've been listening to, but there are some srs music k-n-o-w-e-r a-b-o-u-t-e-r-s on here who will probably prove me wrong

Have you given any thought to satellite radio? It's an easy way to get the feel for other genres of music, you might find something you like. Just a suggestion

Lol. Somehow, I don't see him loving Matadon:D

There is some good rock and roll hidden in the Alt-Country/Americana genre. Skip anything out of Nashville.

Another vote for Mumford and Sons, dudes are crazy talented, I like musicians that actually write their own stuff and play their own instruments.

Here's a new song, I'm hoping it's on their next album, beauteous.

I'd agree. I grew up listening to everything on that list and more. I think it's kind of sad to get stuck in an era of music to later not realize others came after that.

I think that if you've never opened yourself up to what took place after those bands....you are at least beginning to at least start looking.

Maybe what might be more appropriate would to maybe go backwards instead of forwards and listen to the music that came before them?

If you like these groups, you'd probably like the first album by Evanescense.

Try some old Freddie King or some Doobies, Allmann Brothers, Johnny Winters, The Band, Greatful Dead. Early REO Speedwagon, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep. Hendrix, Buddy Guy.

I think the best act of the 2000s was the White Stripes. They had a lot of that classic rock feel mixed with heavy rock. Jack White is just so talented.

Jack White brings it live. easily my favorite band from the 00's

lots of blues influence, akin to Jimmy Page

their 2003 show in OKC was probably the best concert i have been to

The Keys are one of my favorite bands, but I posted the truckers. That's game over. Plus they actually fit his preferences.
