In the last month, a couple of massive trees have just started dropping very large branches. They just sort of strip away. The leaves stay green, which is weird. But these limbs are like really big. In excess of eight feet long. Is this due to lack of water? Or are they sick?

Some trees are self-pruning. My pecan does that all the time and that's totally natural for it.

if the leaves are still green, chances are that there isnt a problem.

No idea. I think maybe pecan? Would that be normal for OKC?

Sure seems like the wind.

There may be damage from the cold this winter...don't really know.
Some arborists have said that we might see some sudden die off or other problems from the cold last winter.

We are in a drought...trees will drop leaves and or limbs...pecans seem to be prone to dropping limbs...especially the more heavily shaded limbs...

Water the snot out of them...water really heavy as far out as the canopy....

Mem is correct..the trees have had a couple of years of terrible weather...ice storms and bitter cold...and now 7 months with little rain...

I have a dozen pecan trees in my back yard. They're always dropping limbs. Its a good thing because they some down intermittently. Storms usually bring them down. I've never lost a pecan tree. Just some big limbs and I've never watered them.

Normally I would agree but we haven't had any rain for at least six months...it been a bad couple of years and the trees can easily be stresses...

I would water the pizz out of them...

If it's pecan trees maybe you have too many squirrels that the branches can't support them.

The ice storms the last couple years have done a number on our trees. Now we have 50 mph plus winds with regularity.
