Oklahoma Quarterbacks (http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/29968/big-12-position-rankings-quarterback)

1. Oklahoma

Oklahoma learned the hard way in 2009 about the importance of the backup quarterback, but even in his limited experience, Drew Allen has impressed Bob Stoops after narrowly losing out on the backup job behind Sam Bradford in 2009. Landry Jones is a great one, and with his opportunities, has become a Heisman Trophy favorite. Could Allen have done the same if he had beaten out Jones in 2009? Blake Bell, the nation's No. 3 quarterback in the 2010 class, will likely be Oklahoma's No. 3 in 2011.

Oklahoma Running Backs (http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/30015/big-12-position-rankings-running-back)

2. Oklahoma

Oklahoma will try and replace do-everything forever (or whatever) back DeMarco Murray with a platoon likely led by shifty Florida native Roy Finch. True freshman Brandon Williams made a big impact in spring camp, and Brennan Clay will likely earn a few touches, too. Health concerns raise questions about a pair of other OU backs' knees (Jermie Calhoun, Jonathan Miller), but walk-on Dominique Whaley led the team in rushing in the spring game.

Oklahoma Tight Ends and Receivers (http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/30047/big-12-position-rankings-receivertight-end)

1. Oklahoma

The Sooners have the nation's No. 2 receiver, Ryan Broyles, but found a handful of others to surround him in 2010 and should have a couple more in 2011. Sophomore Kenny Stills broke Broyles' freshman receiving record and looks like a budding star. Dejuan Miller came on strong before a season-ending knee injury, but he's back. The Sooners lose Cameron Kenney, but Trey Franks had a strong freshman campaign, and freshmen Justin McCay (redshirt) and Trey Metoyer could provide even more playmakers.

Oklahoma Linebackers (http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/30132/big-12-position-rankings-linebackers)

1. Oklahoma

The Sooners boast the Big 12's top returning defender in Travis Lewis, who has notched at least 100 tackles in each of the past three seasons, and he'll be joined by the Big 12's co-Defensive Freshman of the Year, Tony Jefferson. Tom Wort and Corey Nelson are both loaded with potential, and will fill out the rotation, after the starter at middle linebacker, Austin Box, died on May 19.

Hanna really emerged last season. He had the one play everyone wishes he had back at A&M, but **** happens. He's definitely gonna help now that he's realized his potential. That grab in the OSU game right before the half was not only important ("clutch" or "swaggerish"), it was a catch very few can make and successfully hold onto the ball after being belted by Martin like he was.

I cant believe they got us at #2 for running backs. We have alot of guys but none of them have proved anything yet.

Well, outside of Cyrus Gray and the committe of backs at OU, Who else is there? I mean James Sims from KU did come back but no way a KU team gets the No. 2 spot. And maybe you put Cody Johnson and the Foz in there, but they haven't done anything either. They are just seniors. Almost every Big XII team lost their starting RB. OU's backs are as unproven as anyone's in the conference. But we bring talented guys with experience that have a chance to start and that is why they are second.

Yea that's high but think about our line too. Our line should be highly improved this year.

I never really realized just how productive James Hanna has been for us. He has more career TD catches than Trent Smith? I never woulda guessed that.

Kind of like one pre-season XII magazine that had Texas true frosh RB on the 1st team All Big XII team, OU being #2 says more about the returning RB talent across the board (or lack of talent) then it does about OU's stable of RBs.

I don't think that's true yet. He has more in a single season than Trent Smith had at OU.

Hanna has quite a bit of experience now, and should be a strong player for us this year.

We have a lot of talent, albeit unproven, at the RB position. In terms of depth, there aren't many teams in the conference that match up. I think a #2 ranking makes sense behind A&M.

I'm interested in seeing the rankings for the OL and DL.

Oklahoma Safeties (http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/id/43577/big-12-position-ranking-safeties)

5. Oklahoma - Reserve Sam Proctor has starting experience, but Javon Harris and Aaron Colvin enter fall camp as starters. That says plenty about how Bob Stoops and Brent Venables feel about them. In a word: confident. Colvin has the most potential in the group, but the two starters will have to learn on the go. Proctor, a senior, should be able to help. James Haynes will also be in the rotation.

I believe Proctor's not as fast as the others and has been dealt the injury card. There's your reason.

Proctor weighs 230 - they are going with the fast corner's who can cover at Saftey for the big 12 purposes. Colvin happens to be good against the run too- tackling ability although he is a buck 80.

Its also because he is soft. Never lived up to his potential.

The question is not why we are #2. The question is why there is a man named Christine. :rcmad:

Oklahoma Cornerbacks (http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/30516/big-12-position-rankings-cornerbacks)

1. Oklahoma - Jamell Fleming is the Big 12's top returner at the position and gives the Sooners a huge boost after being reinstated last week. Fleming had withdrawn from the university because of academic problems following the season. Aaron Colvin moved to safety during the offseason, but Fleming will still have to beat out Gabe Lynn in fall camp to start opposite Demontre Hurst. Julian Wilson also adds depth.

Oklahoma Offensive Linemen (http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/30700/big-12-position-rankings-offensive-line)

5. Oklahoma - The Sooners' goal-line problems last season cost them a game at Texas A&M, but this line was very solid the rest of the season and has plenty of upside. Likely starter Jarvis Jones won't be available until perhaps October, so the Sooners will turn to touted redshirt freshman Daryl Williams at right tackle in the interim. Center Ben Habern and tackle Tyler Evans add a lot of experience.

Rivals says it, so I guess it's true. :texan:

Proctor's built like a Roybacker, and the BIG 12 just doesn't have any power-running offenses like it did when Roy was a star. It's built for speed and spread now, and there's why Nelson, Colvin, Carter... you know... FASTER GUYS play ahead of him. And he got hurt a few times on ST the last two years. Not saying he's a superstar or anything, but he's not "soft."

Getting Jarvis Jones rehabbed and back into football shape by October seems like a pipe dream to me. But I'll keep smokin' it until told otherwise.

Oklahoma Defensive Linemen (http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/colleges/post/_/id/4672820/big-12-position-rankings-defensive-lines)

2. Oklahoma - Oklahoma's defensive tackles are somewhat suspect, but the defensive end combo of Ronnell Lewis (provided he is eligible come fall camp) and Frank Alexander is on par with the best in the Big 12. Both were preseason All-Big 12 selections, but Jamarkus McFarland needs to make good on his potential. Stacy McGee and Casey Walker should both get time at the other tackle spot.

Hanna has a chance to be really special. Peruse some of the video from spring and you'll find him having his way blocking on Travis in some of the drills.

Ubben is ranking the top 10 players at every position now.

Oklahoma Quarterback Landry Jones (http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/colleges/post/_/id/4672821/ranking-the-big-12s-top-10-quarterbacks)

2. Landry Jones, Oklahoma - That said, my bet is on Jones taking the No. 1 spot from Weeden by season's end. We'll see a much more confident Jones this season, further development in his naturally quiet personality. I expect that to manifest on the field and Jones has enough talent around him to mount a serious Heisman campaign, as well as come close to or exceed his 4,718 yards and 38 touchdowns last season. It won't be for a lack of confidence. Jones threw the ball more than any quarterback in the nation last season.

Oklahoma Running Back Roy Finch (http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/31026/ranking-the-big-12s-top-10-running-backs)

3. Roy Finch, Oklahoma - Finch showed lots of flash last season in spot duty behind DeMarco Murray before aggravating a foot injury that kept him out of the first half of the season. He'll have to stay healthy to make good on his potential, and despite being on the All-Big 12 preseason team, he's not on his own team's depth chart just yet. He'll have to jump over Brennan Clay and Jonathan Miller to get his touches in a crowded backfield that will likely carry the load by committee this season.
