We all know who #1 is...

http://www.adrian-peterson.com/adrian-peterson-oklahoma-only-1.jpg

For the 2011-12 season only and just in football, who is #2?

Keep in mind that there is no longer divisions, so don't be all like "best of the North is..." or "three-way-tie for the Big 12 South" blah blah. Also, unlike previous Big 12 seasons, everyone plays everyone else once! And no writing in Nebraska or Colorado, those traitors! ;)

There's only ONE Oklahoma (http://www.soonersportsmedia.com/wallpaper/2009/only_one_splash_1024x768.jpg)... yes, there's only ONE Oklahoma (http://www.soonersportsmedia.com/wallpaper/2011/rookies_1024x768.jpg)... who is second?

Vote for one, vote anonymously, don't try to change your vote because you can't and three days of votin'

Texas A&M schedule:
SMU, Idaho, Oklahoma State, Arkansas (in Dallas), at Texas Tech, Baylor, at Iowa State, Missouri, at Oklahoma, at Kansas State, Kansas, Texas

Talk about easy. They have a shot at the NC if they can go in to Norman and win.

Just click the one that says "Baylor." :)

Talk about easy. They have a shot at the NC if they can go in to Norman and win.

Remember, just talking Big 12 here, not BCS, AP poll, Coaches poll, strength of schedule, whatever. What will really be key this season is the fact that everyone must play everyone else. Look for KSU and ISU to upset somebody like Rhodes and Snyder love to do, hopefully not us.

i think Arky beats them... again.
Agree. Be sure to tune into Texags.com for the imminent meltdown over not being worthy of SEC-eding and how their season is over, $Bill and Jerryworld change too much for pizzas and beer and tickets, and fire Mike Sherman :rcmad:

Any team that has to play at OU has a tough schedule.

That goes without saying.

If Texas A&M is even close to as good as people are saying they should be (which is something simple that I am overlooking), just based on schedule, they should have an 8 win season.
Wins - SMU, Idaho, Arkansas (in Dallas), Baylor, at Iowa State, at Kansas State, Kansas
Tossups-Oklahoma State, at Texas Tech, Missouri, Texas
Losses- at Oklahoma

Why? A&M could have easily (and by could have I mean should have) won the game last year. With that abysmal Jerrod Johnson character.

can be looked at many ways

LSU destroyed aggie, and lost to arky.

i just think aggie will lose to sec. again

i think they have played in Jerry World 3 times already, and have yet to win... not really a streak, but i will bet on sec over aggie.

Why? A&M could have easily (and by could have I mean should have) won the game last year. With that abysmal Jerrod Johnson character.

Jerrod excuses aside, let's not rewrite history here. Despite having the tie for the Big 12 South (a THREE-way tie, but of course), A&M was 3-3 at one point last season. They were not even a 10-win team last season and lost their bowl game. They finished the season ranked #19 (AP) and #21 (coaches). The only reason history seems to forgive their so-so results is:

1- They beat us... at home... during the worst performance of our season
2- Their backup QB saved their arses midseason, so any previous mediocrity is blamed on JJ.
3- The three-way-tie for Big 12 South thing.
4- Their Nebrasky win... which, I remind you, was only 9-6. Final score! 9-6!

FACT: Up until they beat us, they were unranked the entire season.

A&M suuuuuuuuuucked last year, but their win over us disguises that fact so conveniently. Alas, other sucky teams have beaten us over the years too, even under Stoops (2001 Poke comes to mind). However, as :rcmad: will attest, it's the Texas win, not the OU win, that will save your arse coming firing season.

I don't know that A&M has the team to get it done every week. That takes great D and consistency and I don't know that they have that.

Both OSU and A&M were very close to being crappy last year. The whole of the Big 12 was down, and they had easy rides. This year the whole conference will be better (except maybe Mizzou) and they have expectations now. Neither team has had to deal with that variable in a long time.

1- You nearly lost to Troy at home.

Didn't your top tier awesomest oldest mannest Weeden fumble in victory formation, nearly costing you that victory? At home? Versus TROY?!?!

2- I know we are supposed to be putting the Jerrod excuse aside, but he did throw that INT that put you in winning field goal formation against A&M at home.

3- You were down 21-17 to U-La-La at halftime.

4- You lost to Nebraska at home.

5- You only beat KSU by 10, which was your lead at halftime.

6- You lost to us.

There's six instances where you could have easily lost or did lose. 6-6 sounds a worse than 11-2, no? And some of those opponents had no business being those games, home or away :stunned:

So, once again, please don't rewrite history. You were d@mn lucky to be 11-2 with those stumbles along the way. And again for anyone that missed it:

Never trailed. No fear whatsoever.

And Air Force.
Another team we never trailed.

And Cincinnati.
Aside from an opening field goal, never trailed again after the first 10 minutes or so. Zzzzz.

And us.
Once again, never trailed you, even with your fully operational and half-empty battle stadium. And Boone Pickens left early. And Brandon Weeden completed several passes to us. Next time, we should just have him setup in victory formation. That way, he won't have interceptions on his stat line and we'll still get the ball :P

And Nebraska.
Now now Aggy, no fair living vicariously through a team that beat your arse on your home turf. Did they kick our arse in the first half. Yes. Did we hold them scoreless in the second half? Oh yeah. And did we get the Big 12 trophy that Boone Pickens would give up his billions to just touch? Yup! :D

Damn. Pretty close to a losing record.
If by losing record you mean "never trailed in most of these games" then YES! Yes! We are such gooner loser gooners. Grrrrrrr. So sick of losing! Give me an 0-10-1 record if it only means that the 11th game will not be a loss too!

Vote for Baylor. They're like OU's second team, because all you have to do is travel down I-35 and there you are: Baylor.

One day of voting and reminding you that BRANDON WEEDEN FUMBLED IN VICTORY FORMATION. :stunned:

I hate texass and i know all of you hate texass, but i think they will be #2 in the Big 12 behind OU. I know thier qb and oline was bad last year yet i think they will put it together and in the Cotten Bowl you never know how a team will play remember last year we were holding off a comeback by them. My ranking are OU,texass, ta&m, mu,bu,tt,osu kst,ist and ku.

Guess who can't be a Co-Chump this year?

Hint: They came in 3rd in the poll.

Utah state and AF were just as embarrassing as ULL and troy. Let's not sugarcoat things.

OSU got lucky with the way their schedule set up: playing A&M early, all the tough games at home, etc. OU just simply wasn't very good at the beginning of the year.

How dare you be reasonable.

OU's struggles last year can honestly be viewed as growing pains, because they did get stronger and more consistent as the season went on. OSU was good, but really just looked like the same team wire-to-wire. The final five game run for OU may prove to be an important turn-around for the core group of guys coming into this season. The bulk of them know how to play four quarters, how to win on the road, how to come back from being down multiple possessions to win, how to make big plays when they need it most, etc. They were really lacking that mental toughness early-on last year.
