The Sooner Schooner versus that stupid, burnt-orange, oversized bass drum

Done!! How is it even that close?

Partial Qualifier

Only explanation is the sheer advantage in population size Texas has over us

On the subject of this, when did the Red River Shootout start being called the Red River Rivalry?

Done. I want to know, though, how the Script Ohio is losing to Nebraska's horseshoe (which I have never even heard of) and Ralphie is losing Michigan's "Go Blue" banner. I'm not really an Ohio State or Colorado fan, but those are two of the most recognizable traditions in college football.

I admit, that buffalo is pretty kick ***. Maybe we should get Buffalo's to pull the schooner instead.

By the way. This is my favorite tradition:

On the subject of this, when did the Red River Shootout start being called the Red River Rivalry?

It had to do with Southwestern Bell/SBC/Cingular/AT&T changing it as the sponsor ala Washington Bullets/Wizards.

For the same reason Han Solo does not shoot first in the "remastered" version of Star Wars . . .

Went to vote... noticed most of the nation was a fairly uniform 60-40 in favor of the Sooners... except Nebraska, which was 89-11 for OU. I mentioned this to my wife. She said I needed to get a life...

Bevo and the drum only took 65% in Texas. That's pretty lame!

Jacie
6/20/2011, 11:13 AM
They are pretty chapped about it over on hornfans, dismissing the idea of the drum being a tradition, suggesting Bevo would trounce the Schooner, and saying they really don't care about it even as they encourage each other to go vote . . .

My question is what did we do to the fine folks of Mississippi? Must be an awful lot of transplanted Texans there.

I don't get that, either. In fact, where I live near Philadelphia, because it's home to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, you see Sooner gear all the time. Those votes must be coming from another part of the state.

when SBC global took it over. They thought it was too politically incorrect to call it a shootout.

Not to sound like sour grapes, but how the hell is Nebraskas "tunnel walk" beating the schooner by so much? Its a damn tunnel walk that every team does, whats so great about it? With that said, I think FSU will win it all, that tradition is pretty awesome.

Obvious. They're still pissed about Marcus Dupree.

Round 2 - voted. Should have been facing the Script Ohio though. It's a joke that Nebraska beat them in round 1.

All it shows (them beating tOSU and leading us right now) is that their fans spend more time on ESPN than our fanbase and tOSUs fanbase because that tradition isnt even a tradition, its what every team does before every game. What a joke if they beat us.
