A third of OU's commitments for 2012 are from FL. Stoops getting good athletes from the central and upper region of that state.

Well done !!

He's played tackle in HS but projects as a very talented center where he has played at all the summer camps. Ty also plays some def. tackle where he is hard to beat. Ty is playing in Florida's top class and playes against the type of kids who commit to FLA, Miami, Fla St and many7 top notch schools.

Great pick-up!!

I don't understand how espn and rivals/scout always are so different. On espn, he is ranked number 98.

Looks to me like Rivals has him #3 center and #118 or something overall.

Check that. Rivals has him #1 C but #118 overall. Scout has him #3 C.

Regardless -- he had a ton of offers, should be good, chose OU, Boomer!

The Sooners usually come up with a few unheralded players that end up looking like 5-star recruits. If you want to consider last year's crop compared to the big time Longhorn recruits, I'll go with the Sooners anytime...

ESPN is a distant 3rd behind the other two if you ask me.

I'm friends with his aunt and uncle...both former cheerleaders at OU. Needless to say, they're very excited.

California, Florida, New Mexico, New Jersey, Missouri etc.. But we only can win with Texas players. ;)

Stoops has done an amazing job on expanding the recruiting base. I'm loving these out of state recruits.

This quote from the article makes it seem like the Orlando Sentinel writer is an old fried of Coach Stoops.

Ty, the son of Apopka head football coach Rick Darlington, had narrowed his choices down to Auburn, Florida State and a few other schools, but OU was always high on his list since a trip last summer to camp and to meet with Bobby Stoops and the rest of the Sooners' coaching staff

That's a leftover from his Def. coord. days at Flawda. Everyone here still calls him Bobby.
