That could become an iconic photograph, as well as a Pulitzer Prize Winner. The dichotomy of that photo is incredible.

If you think Vancouver is bad, check out College Park, Maryland after a big basketball win (or loss) against Duke. They've had numerous riots over the past decade.

I don't think this photo is as iconic as either of those, but there are two categories of Pulitzer awards for photography (feature news, and breaking news), and I wouldn't be surprised to see the photo of the lovers kissing amid the riot get nominated.

They're still Canadian, they've started a FB group to clean up the mess and identify the hooligans responsible for said mess.

You'd think the French were in charge.

Found this comment on YouBoob.

"Let's see. We're heading into a global inflationary depression, the middle east is descending into what could be the start of a massive new war, Greece is in chaos, China & Russia are aligning with Pakistan & Iran, the US economy is in a tailspin... and the thing that enrages THESE mobile vats of *barely* self-aware, bipedal slop is the fact that 'their' bunch of guys didn't hit the little rubber thinggie better than the other bunch of guys. 'Pathetic' just doesn't quite describe it."

My oldest Marine's GF, someone I love very much, is from Vancouver. She is more shocked
and disgusted by this rioting than any of us.

The rumor that most Canadians, especially Vancouverites, are incredibly polite is true;
although she says the (French) Canadiens in Quebec are insufferable arses. I'd say as a
whole the Vancouver peoples' reputation for being friendly, welcoming and unfailingly polite
rate higher than that of our own Sooner State propensity for loving kindness that everyone
learned of after the Murrah Building bombing.

To say she's upset and disgusted by all that is a gross understatement. I feel so badly for the
good people in Vancouver; it's like every jackass in their country was shipped into one area and hired to
play drunk, horny, pissed off Horn fans in a movie "Ode to the 2010 Season".

I agree. I have worked for a Canadian company, and I have several Canadian fields. They are extremely civil people.....except when it comes to hockey. This is the 2nd episode of post-Stanley Cup rioting in Vancouver. The same thing happened during the 1990's, when the Canucks were defeated by Rangers in the Stanley Cup.

She's too young to remember that. I'm sure her parents were too polite to tell her about that lapse in good behavior. :)

Profit, I think this has more to do with Anarchists and the tolerance of those proffered by the Vancouverites (and to some extent the Upper West Coast area) for this view. They rioted at the Olympics and they rioted when the G-20or whatever was in Vancouver. Each time, a peaceful protest was subverted bya group of people into mayhem and looting. I think a group of people in that area just take advantage of the situation there and go crazy...

The main reason that this turn into such a ****-storm, is that they packed 100,000 fans into the downtown core, most of who either had already been drinking before they arrived, or snuck some in, and then the team played horrible, and lost the championship in the process.

I think if you took any *insert sport name here*-crazed city, under the same circumstances, and there will be problems. I'm not defending what happened at all, but I think they created a perfect storm for trouble.

They are saying that there was a criminal element that started this in the first place, but I don't know that I buy that.

Well, the word in the press now is the couple was not making out. Rather, the riot cops ran them over while charging at the crowd and the young woman on the ground hit her head on the pavement and the guy got knocked down too. He was trying to see if she was ok. Witnesses said the cops gave the woman an extra push or shove even after she went down.

There would have been no couches left in Morgantown.

But, on the flip side - the furniture stores are very disappointed! :greedy_dollars:
