I didn't see this thread earlier. It would/should have been the first thing I did this morning.

Heavenly Father, we lift SAS's dad to you and thank you for your love, strength & healing pouring down all around this situation. Father, we thank you for working in and with the doctors and all who are helping his father in this time of need. We claim perfect health and healing for him; for as you have said in your Word, "Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health, even as thy soul prospereth. We know you love SAS and his family to be well and happy. We thank you Father God for bringing this about. We thank you and claim all this in the name of your son, our Brother and the author and finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sending you love, hope for a peaceful heart and strength, Brother in Christ...

It's not that big of a deal as long as you are wearing a helmet and some leathers. If he's doing it in traffic wearing shorts and sunglasses then I'd go buy a life insurance policy as I think you'll make out like a bandit.

I was going to say the same thing. California has a helmet law and we still have brain injuries. The coup contrecoup injuries to the brain happen with or without a helmet even at speeds below 10mph. There's no point in being mad at him for something that probably would have happened anyway.

The one very positive thing I take from this is the love that my "step" family had for him. At times I thought they just tolerated my dad in their lives. But I'm overwhelmed by their love for him. The parade of grandchildren that he taught to hunt, fish, and play sports blew my mind. It's like one of the greatest grandpas ever was cut down in his prime. I think I hurt even more for them than me. He has 2 natural grandchildren and 11 step grandchildren but there was nothing "step" about it to him or them. My step bro and sisters had a crappy dad and I think that made them appreciate him even more than I did.

You know Dan, this is tearing me up, especially being Father's Day weekend and all.

I ride a Harley, and revel in the feel that riding without a helmet gives. But I swear to you here and now, I will never ride that bike without a helmet again. Picturing how you must feel, and what it would do to Jr...I just won't do it.

You guys do know that anger is part of the grieving process?

Yes....and you have the right to feel anyway you want Bro. I knew my Mom was going to die a horrible death 13 months before it happened. I got all the what ifs and whys out long before she passed. I have really tried to stay positive about it after she passed. With these type of deaths, you don't get that choice usually.

Hang in there and remember....many of us have suffered awful losses and that you aren't alone.....by the sounds of things you are going to do just fine with it all and I'm betting he's proud of you for handling it all that way.

God Bless You SAS

Dude, don't make that promise. Everyone has a time and place. Riding with a helmet is like having sex with a condom. It's just not real, and they don't really protect you anyhow. Well actually a condom is much better protection than a helmet.

Anyhow, Dan's dad went out doing something he enjoyed, the way he enjoyed it. That should be celebrated and respected. In the immortal words of Willie, "It's my life...God was one to give it...Nobody's gonna tell me, how to live it, right or wrong, it's my song, nobody's gonna tell me how to live my life..."
