I've always thought Phil Steele's was the best, it has the most info and is sometimes pretty accurate.

Also looks like he picked us #2 in his magazine, if this hasn't been posted before.

In my experience, the magazines which rank O.U. high and U.T. relatively lower, are the best.

The ones that rank U.T. high and O.U. relatively lower are the worst.

Phil Steel's is like $10 but well worth it. Haven't looked at the others though.

Exactly!

P.S. I like Phil Steele the best each year but that's just me.

1. Oklahoma

2. Alabama

3. Oregon

4. LSU

5. Florida State

6. Boise State

7. Oklahoma State

8. Stanford

9. Nebraska

Bama sure is getting a lot of talk for losing so many key players.

Phil steele may be still feeling the effects of his last season's choice of the Sooners at #1. Just picked up both Lindy's and the Sporting News (Which picks the top 10 as:
1. LSU
2. OU
3. Bama
4. Stanford
5. Oregon
6. Boise State
7. Florida State
8. Ohio State
9. Texas A&M
10.Nebraska
Like many here, I'm sort of partial to Steele in that there's certainly a bunch of info in that publication......

Wow, no Oklahoma State. A lot that I have seen rank Okie State in the top ten.

Phil Steele's has the most info, not a lot of wasted space on pics. Steele likes to pat himself on the back a lot, but that doesn't bother me. He does probably go back a little too far for my taste in discussing history/trends. But most folks probably like that.

I buy two college football mags every yr: The first one I see. And Phil Steele's. If I saw Steele's first, that would be enough for me...

I buy them all every year, but unless you want to have them for posterity's sake (like I do- I have every Athlon back to '86; fun to browse back through them every now again), I would just swing by Barnes & Noble when you have an hour to spare and read them there and save $30.

Phil Steele's is good, but basically has become a mag that he adds about 1 page of new info to the national articles each year- if you read last year's, you've pretty much read this year's. The team reports are good, but unless you want to read them all, you can just give it a scan at the bookstore.
