Had a couple friends over last night to drink a few beers and grill some sweet a$s ribeyes i picked up at Wheelers.
Well, to make a long story short i refused to cook his steak well done. I said medium at the most. I like mine rare to medium rare. I feel like well done is worse than putting ketchup on a steak!!

Heh. He is in fact a straight laced southern boy. Never drinks either. So I enjoy my wine and a bloody ribeye while he drinks a coke and has a burnt filet. He's a great friend, he's just mentally challenged in terms of food.

I'll eat a steak cooked pretty much anyway. It's all good. I'm not a big fan of rare though.

My old roommate didn't cook his steaks to death. He would marinate them in Worcestershire sauce. Normally they were a good medium-rare to medium. Then he would slather his in ketchup and ranch dressing. I nearly hurled. I took my steak and left the room to eat. It was like watching someone burn the American flag.

i normally go for medium at a restaurant because most of them cant get to medium well without torching the outer layer of the steak - i dont mind some pink - but the medium rare and rare is way too much red for me

Gotta go with the rare to not quite medium rare, about 15 seconds more on each side past full rare. Blue rare is not very good too chewy.

I like my steaks rare. And, I like mopping up the blood on the plate with my french fries. That is so much better than ketchup. And, I am no longer invited to eat out with my friends who won't eat beef on religious/moral grounds and seem pretty much appalled at my behavior.
