Anyone have good suggestions for Tulsa restaurants that serve good food like Grandma used to make? I used to go to Marie Callendars on 51st occasionally and I found out yesterday they were closing.

Nelson's has the best lunch in terms of home cooking.

Breakfast is a bit harder to come by. Try the Savoy or Phill's Diner

Blue Dome is ok, but it's got a sort of hipster vibe going on, not necessarily a true diner, home cooking type place.

the 1st time we went... the owner told us they purposely tried not to over season with cajun spices, cuz they weren't sure how people in the area would take the spice... but ive since had there kickin shrimp and cajun chicken bites... both very spicy and very good... so who knows... maybe they have just been progressing with the seasoning...

you got a thai place to toss out there? always looking for a new one.

You tried Lanna Thai? I thought it was good. Then again, the only other Thai places I have been are Thai Kum Koon in Norman and Pei Wei (yeah I know its not really Thai, but they have Pad Thai).

If you are looking for Home Cooking it is pretty safe to leave out any of the chain restaurants. Not just in Tulsa but all of North America.

Finding a place that really cooks and not just reheats frozen food is getting harder and harder these days.

Actually, in today's day and age, home cooking really is just reheating frozen food or nuking something in the microwave. Cooking is becoming a lost art.

Anyone tried Duke's Southern Kitchen yet?

I haven't been yet, but everyone I've talked to that has, loves it. I keep forgetting about it.

Seriously, anyone here go to The Brook on like 91st and Memorial? I think they have CFS. The portions there will make you fat after one sitting.

Are you the guy with the double wolf sticker on your rear window?

Yes, I really did see that this morning, but I didn't take a pic because I didn't want to hear about how dirty my windshield is.

Nah. Me and the ball and chain went to Lanna Thai yesterday. $8.95 for probably the most expensive appetizer on the menu, $6.95 each for lunch entree. Hers came with a soup also. Two waters. We payed around $27-$28 after tax and tip. Plus, the appetizer was enough food that neither of us could eat more than half of our entree and had to take it home. Not bad really.

All of the food was good, tasted really fresh, and they made neat carvings in the cucumbers and a flower out of a carrot. :D

Bangkok Supa Buffet is the truth

Yes it is.

Mimis is legit down home food. The meatloaf is good as is about anything you order there...big servings.

In Jenks, the Jenks Restaurant serves up some awesome food on mainstreet. Their pancakes/waffles are great for breakfast. If you like oatmeal though, go down the street to Hugos.

I like the one on 81st and Lewis. Can't remember the name, but it's next to a Zio's (which, by the way, is terrible).

Yeah, its really good too.

My wife goes to Lanna Thai with her work buddies but we go out together to Bangkok Super Buffet.

We live closes to the 81st/Lewis place but always seem to roll on up to the buffet when we are in the mood for Thai. The guy there knows us and is very friendly so that prob plays in.

If you want good Cajun food, go to Hebert's. I do not even understand why there is a debate when this is a fact.

Heberts is pretty good. And my inlaws are cajuns from SW Louisiana, not northern Louisiana where the food is bland and closer to Creole than Cajun.

So if we are too lazy to cook, then Heberts is the best choice for cajun now that Copelands has closed (terrible location - Broken Arrow?).
