I highly suggest people go and see it. Imagine E.T. on steroids but in a good way.

If you watch the previews, you think it's about a monster running around town and people running from it. While that is somewhat true allot of the film is spent on the story of the young teenagers and developing their characters. You have the story of the children and the train wreck going on in the background. Don't worry, it's not like Cloverfield where you're left in the dark on everything as it focuses on just the people. There is a little bit of a backstory to help fill you in somewhat.

Also, the setting, 1979, gives it that E.T./Close Encounters of the Third Kind feel in some areas. Remember Spielberg helped produce this.

Anyway, it's not too scary, violent, or much profanity. I would call it an E.T. for teenagers and with the '79 setting the parents will get a small taste of yesteryear.

Good movie, go see it as soon as possible.

If you had to give some stars for it. How many would you give it out of five?

It's about an E.T. that's a pedophile? Does he prefer E.T. children or human children?

9 out of 10

Saw it at the IMAX earlier. I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing like Battle of Los Angeles or Transformers. Sure there is plenty of explosions and gunfire, but the setting and backstories are great. Spielberg has a gem here.

I do not approve of this movie review. there was no mention of youngsters being in the flick, thus making my question look turbo pervy.

you suck dick at movie reviews

I saw it as an homage to Spielberg.

Visions of Jaws, ET, Poltergeist, Close Encounters, The Goonies, Sugarland Express all popped into my head at one time or another.

The train wreck is a masterful work of special effects. Just that 5 minutes was worth it for me.

Great acting by the Fanning girl.

The little fat director reminded me of Orson Wells.

OH, BTW.....wait till the movie is really over. Stay thru the credits.

Got to enjoy it with some loud people next to us. I gave a few shhhh's, and after 3 attempts to get some coopetation for some silence, my bro yelled "Shut Up!", to which the wife said we were being a rude. I got a hold of the manager and the talking continued and they finally got the hint after someone else tells them to shut it. It was everything within me not to just dump my drink in their laps.
