Boomer Sooner!!

I wonder if this will effect DGB decision?

meaning would it affect him from coming or could this possibly be a Missouri link to maybe influence DGB? I don't know if they are friends or not but I sure hope so...

Just watched his highlight video. Definitely reminds me of Broyles with his open field running ability, but he's a bigger kid. He even has that Broyles cockiness in him as he loved to put it into cruise control when he knew the defense couldn't catch him. He'll need to learn that those college DBs will catch him and punch the ball out if he's not careful :). Looks like the real deal.

Tons of top programs offered him. Here's the Scout profile

Here's Rivals: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Durron-Neal-101147

Looks like he's the #4 WR on the Rivals Board

Huge pickup, guys. We had serious interest in him, but had not extended a firm offer because we could never get him on campus for an OV, which I always thought was strange because he claims to have been a Bama fan growing up.

I could see this helping you with Gunner Kiel, but I think it might hurt you with DGB--JMO. Again, congrats.

Great pick up. We land DGB next and I say we landed a loaded wr class with Neal, Shepard and DGB.

The Scout and Rivals profiles said you did offer him.

He was high on our board, but he did not have a COMMITTABLE offer--and I KNOW that you know there's a huge difference between an 'offer' and a 'committable or true offer', Rush. Look, if it had been up to me, he would have had one--I happen to thing he's THAT good. However, and I know this is gonna sound like sour grapes, the competition he plays against at DeSmet isn't exactly top notch. Not a knock on the guy by any means, I think he is still a player, but our staff wanted to see him on campus against solid competition, and we could never get him here for any of our camps.

I've learned something in this thread:

A kid can receive a scholarship offer OR a "we really mean it" scholarship offer. The first apparently doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for the props.:) I have the utmost respect for the OU program and the Sooners will ALWAYS be my second favorite team behind my Crimson Tide, that's one reason that I spend so much time over here.

For my two cents, I'll say I like having Sabanball around as well. Yeah, the Sooners aren't your #1 team, and you have to be graded down because of that, but you're always respectful and not near as obnoxious as the whorn fans who used to come around.

...whatever happened to all of em anyway? Surely their poor season doesn't have em unwilling to show their faces??? :D

Sabanball has never rubbed me wrong at all and I'm perfectly happy to have him here.

That said, the whole concept of "2nd favorite team." I don't know. If I told my wife that I spent a lot of time with my 2nd favorite girl, that wouldn't go well for me, nor should it. I'm a one-woman man, and likewise -- there's only ONE. . .

I understand that whole 2nd favorite team thing. I went to Stanford for grad school after OU and will pull for them unless they play OU which is rare. That Sun bowl meeting was perfect - OU won, but Toby Gerhart looked good and got some stats the way I was hoping.

And my wife and mistress have always gotten along just fine.

I think this kid has a chance to be pretty special. If the coaches are already talking about putting him at punt return, it means they think he has big play potential. Obviously Broyles has that spot right now. But I like his attitude.

I've been watching video on this kid from last year and he has phenomenal speed and strength. His highlights included him playing D-back, wildcat, kick return and receiver....me thinks he will come very close to 5 star, if not get it, status after his senior year.
