Unfortunately, I see some Sooner rings on here as well. Seeing that 2000 NC ring hurts.

On a side note, I can't believe the rings are only 10K gold. Ick.

They probably can't got over a certain dollar value as defined by the NCAA...

I saw a guy on Pawn Stars trying to sell a 2006 Heat trainer ring for $90,000. The pawn guys laughed the Tool out of the shop. He was prob from TJ's.

I wonder how much the 2000 Championship ring sold for. And what the kid got for it in the first place.

Most athletic and school rings are 10k (if not specifically ordered in 14k or even 18k), not because it costs less, but because those big rings with the intricate designs won't wear down as fast as the softer 14k and 18k gold.

I've seen many college rings that are 14k and even 18k that, after 10 years or so of wear, have worn down and look like crap.

I think this is true. 10k also resists deformation much better also. A big ring worn by an active individual needs to be as sturdy as possible.

is it just me or are all graduation-looking rings (including these) super ugly? they're all 1) super masculine and 2) really hokey looking.

I think the current OU rings by Jostens are crap. OU signed an exclusive deal with them. When I graduated we had the choice of Jostens and Balfour. I got a Balfour ring and love it. IMO, Balfour rings have a more traditional design and don't scratch as easily.

Don't always view a ring for sale as some kind of treason. When OU won the 1985 national championship, one of my best buddies cleared tables and washed dishes in the athletic cafeteria.

He was not given a ring by the school, but as an Ath Dept employee, he was offered the chance to buy one. He couldn't afford it. In fact, since he couldn't buy one for himself, he offered to use his privilege to buy one for any of us if we gave him the money, but we couldn't afford it, either. Wish I had that now.

What caught my eye on that website was the "19XX Oklahoma State National Championship Prototype Ring." Hhahahahahhahaah. story of their lives, right there.

And thanks for the "10K" posts. I should have realized that.
I agree, those ring styles are just awkward-looking. I don't even like the USMC rings like that - and for a die-hard Marine Mom like me, that's sayin' something.
