Was in Norman yesterday and is possibly hanging out on campus today. He is a 6'6 210 lb WR from Missouri. It is rumored that he has a top three of OU, Mizzou, and Bama. It is also thought that his decision could come by the end of july. Just thought i would throw this out there.

I think he is picking in July because he apparently doesnt like the whole recruiting process.

I'd love to see him choose, & play in, the Crimson and Cream. I think he and his family would be blessed with him in Norman. Oklahoma would be a great place for him to develop, to shine and to prepare for the NFL to boot.

With potential recruits though, I keep in mind the words of The King to Mark Harmon: "You come out here, and we’re going to win the national championship. And if you don’t come out here, we’re going to win the national championship.”

He would be awesome pickup. Unless Bama has another QB I don't know about I wouldn't think a great WR would want to go there. Missouri has a new QB that is said to be very promising. I would guess Missouri is our main competition for him.

We should run him up to Stillwater when its about 100 this afternoon and show him their IPF.

Bama is likely to sign the #1 rated QB in the country named Gunner Kiel. It is thought that bama is a little behind OU and Mizzou because it is too far from home. But thats not to say saban didnt try. He took DGB to a bama B-ball game with Julio Jones. And as for MIzzou they are the hometown team.

rumor also tho was that kiel and dgb have developed a pretty good relationship so either could possibly sway the other. lets just hope its in the direction of Norman, OK

Signing Dorial Green-Beckham would be on par with Peterson's recruitment in the 2004 class. What do you guys think ?

Not quite to that level if ya ask me. A possible stud RB means more to a team than a possible stud WR, even in these pass-happy times.

Of course with AD we also signed Bomar who was the #1 QB that year, and if memory serves me correctly the #4 overall player.

I think AD qualifies as one of the most hyped-up recruits of the decade. I'm not sure when VY went to Texas, back in '01 maybe, but he is up there as well. I don't think DBG is at the status of AD or VY yet. It is tough for WRs to beat QBs and RBs in hype, as indicative by college awards like the Heisman, which are usually only given to QBs or RBs.

True... without doing any major study... seems like there's probably five or six good WRs out there for every good QB, and even more rare to find an RB as good as AD.

Is he related to David Beckham? Can we get him to kick field goals as well?

Or Gundy to Adrian Peterson "We'll win with you or we'll win without you."

that anything like [hairGel]'s "we'll make you co-co-championship rings if we can tie for our division while you're here?"

Peterson was special because he can carry the ball 20 to 30 times a game. In a game increasingly dominated by short yardage specialist, third down backs, change of pace backs, Power backs...Peterson had and has the ability to be all of those things...that is what makes him unique.

And as for Mizzou they are the hometown team.

DGB is from Springfield, which isn't really a Mizzou town. I moved there in 2004 and there were more Husker and Sooner fans there than Mizzou fans. In 2006 the Mizzou fans started coming out of the woodwork with people talking smack that hadn't said anything to me in two years, but most of them were bandwagoners.

I moved back to OKC in 2008, so I don't know what it's like now, but I suspect DGB still sees lots of OU gear in Springfield.

I'd be worry about Bammer being on his list. Julio Jones was considering us before he landed in Bammingham.

More receivers should consider OU. Top QB's need top receivers to toss touchdowns repeatedly to. :)

Norman is almost as close to Springfield as Columbia is. There is no good way to MU from Springfield.

Good point! I think when we were in the conference meltdown discussions last season that we mentioned that while Mizzou might have "Missouri" in its title, OU has at least joint custody of the television markets up there.

Funny you quote that because had Harmon came here we would have won one in '72.

Well Julio is from Alabama so it's not easy to pull a guy away from the hometown team. Missouri just isn't that big a deal to the people up there.

Going to Norman would make more sense for him. His family will want to see him play and Norman is a lot closer than Bama. However, some kids don't care about distance, but most do.

The good thing is OU runs the spread, which is a big + for receivers. If OU can win the title this year I think recruiting will explode the new few years.

Do these guys even know each other?

In an interview with a soonerscoop writer, Neal said that he and DGB had already talked about playing together and how they could open the defense up for each other since DGB is an outside receiver and Neal is a slot. There were concerns that Neal would push DGB away but Neal said that they would be fine playing together.
