This was our 7th year as a family to put the flags out for Memorial Day on the section of the cemetary where my grandfather is buried..He was a WW2 Vet who never shared a single war story with me until 24 hours before his passing..We took this on as a family project after discovering that my baby girl was going to be born on Memorial weekend and I wanted to do something that would allow me to teach her about veterans and about her great grandfather..Every year, the questions change..They get a little deeper..A little harder to answer..Require a bit more of explaining..At now 7 years old as of yesterday, I'm sure they will change even more. She can relay a good bit of ww2 history and everytime she sees a flag, she thinks about "soldiers who leave their families behind to make me safe."..
Anyway, I could go on forever relaying the questions she asked, but here is a few pics of the family
