BEFORE YOU VOTE, KNOW THAT JIM TRESSEL RESIGNED!

Rumors are currently rampant that Jim Tressel resigned, much like Pete Carroll escaped USC before the NCAA could come down on the Trojans. Their cases are similar --- regular Heisman candidates, regular conference championships, regular trips to the Rose Bowl, if not another BCS game, and now NCAA issues.

What happens to Ohio State and everyone involved? Check all that apply.

Three days of voting, anonymous voting, you cannot change your vote and you can vote for multiple options.

They should get the death penalty. Nothing better for future "questionable practices" than to whack someone as high-profile as tOSU.

i feelthat it hurts everyone if they get the "death penalty"
A black mark for college football.
it should be severe, tho.

The top 3 definitely. The fact that Tressel "resigned" will cause the NCAA to not be so hard on them. I say pull (50) scholarships for 4/5 years. Ban them from bowls for the same length and vacate all their wins from when this started happening. The reason why they shouldn't get the death penalty IMO is because they didn't pay people to go there. At least not that we know of.

I voted for all except death penalty and wrist slap. Sorry for not including the usual "write in" option. I like that you've done that anyway though!

Extra credit to dewey! Even Meat chicken is laughing at you now, tOSU!

And they haven't beaten you in seven years!

I voted for all, but the wrist slap and death penalty. If they only get a few of those things it will be because Tressel quit.

As an added bonus, aside from crying tOSU fan pictures, specify if tOSU will impose any of the above mentioned penalties, or just wait to see what the NCAA does.

Or are they gonna be like USC and punish their basketball program instead

Dang voted and saw he resigned...

I don't think tOSU will try anything else. At this point, if they do something it is bad. I think now that the problem is gone, they think the NCAA will go easier on them, but now that it was discovered that it is all of the people at the top, it really won't matter. I think the NCAA will give them a fitting punishment no matter what they do.

Like Oregon Ohio State is being investigated as part of the 7 on 7 scandal that is brewing.

I voted for everything except "The Death Penalty" and "slap on the wrist".

Time will tell but I only see bad things coming for those boys and girls.

ESPN reports that OSU is investigation Pryor now and car deals -- this is just about to get much worse since a local Columbus car dealer said the compliance department lied about how many times they had contacted him.

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2011/05/30/zzz.html -- the investigation into Pryor is not only OSU but now the NCAA about the cars according to the Columbus Dispatch.

two days of voting left... and you might want to also consider info in the recently released SI article. Linky (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/magazine/05/30/jim.tressel/index.html)

They are going to get creamed. I expect something in between what USC got and what SMU got.

badger

Their only chance of not getting severe penalties is the fact that they cut Captain Jim off.

SoonerofAlabama
5/31/2011, 10:36 AM
They are getting a load of penalties for sure though. It was more than just Tressel, but the NCAA will probably go a bit easier since Tressel did lie to the NCAA.

I think the AD is sunk, too.
He just doesn't know it yet.
No way they can leave the current administration in place.
This will be very much like OU in the 90's, I believe.
They will be back, but it will be a while.

I too chose every option falling between slap on the wrist and death penalty.

I think if the NCAA looks into everything the sanctions will top those levied against USuC.

Would a decade of irrelevance be enough of a punishment for a decade on top through cheating?

badger
5/31/2011, 11:28 AM
So much as I'd love to see them sink, I think it would be more fun to see them sink on the field.

Don't give them the death penalty, but cripple their program like they've crippled USC's. Let the Big Ten rivals gang up and pwn them for the next decade, beat them by 50 or so (oh wait, this is the Big Ten... just double digits!). That will be far more suffering than just disallowing them from playing.

Can we grant the death penalty to the entire Big 10 + Notre Dame?

Ahia St will not get as stout a penalty as they deserve, IMO.

Here's to seeing them at least get slapped hard enough that perhaps Solich's Bobcats can sneak up on them! That would be fun.
