Recruits read this! I'm glad we have a straight shooter coach in Norman. Bob owns them on and off the field and represents the OU family so well.

That was good. I liked it.

Dude just wasn't that good. He had wheels but struggled to throw the ball with any consistency. Does suck that he was mistreated but not surprised to hear about it.

More proof that Mack is an ahole.

Good read. Guy deserved an A on it.

The guy deserved an A but Harris didn't deserve to play.

No idea if he was not good enough or what, but telling him at halftime of the national title game that he was gonna start and then right before they take the field, telling him that Gilbert was going to play instead because they didn't want to hurt garretts feelings is a grade-A dick-move.

This shouldn't surprise anyone; Mack will tell a kid anything to get him to campus and then keep him there

If they kid wasn't good enough to play/start & asked for his release & Mack refused, thats just Mack Brown being a petty ahole. Hope the rest of the BigXII plasters this in every hs in Texas

The kid should have gotten an F just for this-
Texas ended up losing a game it should have won, 37-21.

Uh, no.
texas was not the better team in that game. They barely beat our "ambulance on speed dial" squad that year, in fact, they were pretty lucky to have won that game.

now now, haven't you heard "If Cold would've played..." enough by now to know that they should have won?

It is interesting that they were going to go with Harris in the second half. Reminds me of how Alex Cate got benched for OSU in the Colorado game when Zac Robinson went down a few years ago, then Old Man Weeden secures his spot as heir apparent.

That very well could have happened with Harris. Texas reaps what it sows - 5 and 7! 5 and 7 ! 5 and 7! :D

I wonder if Paul Thompson felt a little like Harris apparently did -- with the title on the line and Jason White's knees aching a little (ok, probably A LOT), Stoops didn't play ENA, he stuck with Jason. Then, after redshirting, ENA got benched for a (redshirt) freshman, Brett Romar.

Unlike :mack: though, at least ENA got a chance... and got to win a Big 12 Championship for sticking with Stoops and the Sooners.

Good read thanks. I can look past the "game they should have won" thing. Well written piece. Dude should have it published.
