Thunder would still have Jeff Green as well as Chandler.

Thunder reject Chandler; trade off

Tyson Chandler missed the New Orleans Hornets' last 12 games before the All-Star break with a sprained left ankle. But that had nothing to do with why he failed his physical with the Oklahoma City Thunder and was thus sent back to the Hornets on Wednesday.

After examining Chandler's left big toe, Dr. Carlan Yates, Oklahoma City's team physician, determined that the risk of reinjury was too great to give Chandler a clean bill of health. He therefore advised the Thunder to rescind Tuesday's trade that landed them Chandler for Joe Smith, Chris Wilcox and the rights to DeVon Hardin.

"This is absolutely crazy," Chandler said in a telephone conversation Wednesday night. "I'm super shocked. This is nuts."

He missed a lot of time down the stretch that season and the next season though he was healthy and played very well in 2010/11.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Boo Hoo. There are lots of good centers. Perkins unfortunately is not one of them.

this is definitely wrong. at least wait until perkins has a full healthy year in OKC before you make an asinine statement like that. were you watching basketball in 2008?

Ok I guess he was a real impact in this series? No. Perkins is a joke and if you actually watch basketball you would know he really brings little to the table besides liability.

He's a lot tougher than Krstic plus we will get the real (healthy) Perkins in late October.

A healthy Perkins provides some toughess inside on D, and mediocre rebounding for a center. He's an average NBA center, which these days other than Howard they all seem average to poor.

My point was not so much an indictment on Perkins, but more so that the Mavs have a new identity with Chandler's positivity and toughness. If the OKC trade would have happened in '09, the mavs would be stuck with Haywood playing major minutes, which is a definite downgrade... and OKC would have a quality big.

Isn't the generally accepted theory behind the rescinded trade was because Chandler's contract didn't fit in with Presti's long term cap structure given the new hard cap that's yet to come into play?

I just don't like Perkins. For a team like OKC, y'all needed him. Kristic didn't give y'all an interior presence. Perkins was defintely an upgrade there, but I think he is overrated in the NBA circles.

Yep, and he missed quality time down the stretch in 2009 and 2010. He managed to stay healthy in the 2010/11 season.
