Former Oklahoma State wunderkind and current West Virginia coach-in-waiting apparently doesn't know the benefit of leaving a casino quietly and voluntarily early in the morning.

Does this fall under the category of boys will be boys or do we expect more from a man already named as the future head coach?

As bad behavior goes, the kind that gets an individual dismissed-from-a-job kind of behavior, this one is in the gray area that shades more to the let-it-be side of the line.

What it really means is Holgorsen just used his Get Out of Jail Free card and needs to keep a low profile until he can show success on the field.

That's what I'm thinking. At least he didn't go the Mike Price route.

WVU looking into alleged incident at track
by Mike Casazza
Daily Mail sports writer

MORGANTOWN - West Virginia University is looking into an "alleged incident" believed to involve the football team's offensive coordinator and head coach-in-waiting, Dana Holgorsen, at a Cross Lanes casino last week.

Multiple sources told the Charleston Daily Mail Holgorsen was removed from Mardi Gras Casino & Resort after 3 a.m. May 18. Holgorsen had been at a Mountaineer Athletic Club function earlier in the day in Logan before spending the evening at the casino with other university representatives.

In a statement released late Tuesday night, Michael Fragale, the assistant athletic director for communications, said, "Athletic director Oliver Luck and head coach Bill Stewart have been made aware of the alleged incident. Once they have all the facts, they will deal with it appropriately."

The statement was released not long after a Daily Mail reporter left a voice message for a football program official asking if the university was aware of the incident involving Holgorsen.

Holgorsen's behavior allegedly reached a point that necessitated involvement from on-site security, sources said. Holgorsen was escorted out of the casino with the episode caught on surveillance. University representatives who were with Holgorsen were said to have then intervened. No arrest was made.

Police records indicate Metro 911 received a call from the casino at 3:13 a.m. that night. A "white male" was said to be "refusing to cooperate with the casino's management." Casino supervisors had the male detained at the time.

The Nitro Police Department was dispatched to the scene. The official records do not say what happened next, but it's believed Holgorsen was released under the supervision of those he was with.

The state Lottery Commission also polices casinos.

Attempts to reach David Bradley, a deputy security director with the commission, were unsuccessful. He did not respond to messages left at his office.

The department on Tuesday referred all requests for information to their public relations officer, but he was not on duty and could not be reached.

Attempts to reach the security official who led Holgorsen from the casino were also unsuccessful and all inquiries Tuesday night were referred to General

Manager Robert Lagg, who could not be reached.

Holgorsen was hired from Oklahoma State in December to succeed Stewart beginning in the 2012 season.

Writer Jared Hunt contributed to this report.

It does show he has incredibly poor judgement. Did he think no one would notice?

If holgerson was acting in a way as told by the security and other employees at the casino, than he was behaving in a way worse than Mike Price. IMO. Price did nothing illegal and had no business being fired from Alabama.

The unfortunate (for Holgerson) side bar is that he has provided the pro Bill Stewart camp some cheap ammo for use in their little internecine turf war.

From EDSBS:

THE CURIOUS INDEX, 5/25/2011
by Spencer Hall on May 25, 2011 2:03 PM EDT

REAL LIVE ACTUAL FOOTAGE FROM THE HOLGORSEN INCIDENT. It's from a security cam, but we're pretty sure that's him, and Bill Stewart, and Li'l Wayne.

It's good to see the Wannstache working, but you know that as a dealer would have the worst sullen bitchface as he creamed you eighteen hands in a row and shrugged his shoulders. According to The Smoking Musket, Holgorsen may have had a similar incident at another WV casino last month, and the pattern is clear: West Virginia's casino bartenders are mad unchill, and need to loosen up. <---ABSOLUTELY CORRECT ASSUMPTIONS.

Pretty dull stuff. A coach with real fire in his belly would have been thrown out after overturning a few craps tables, shooting out a mirror with his colt, and slapping a cocktail waitress on the fanny.

I have been "escorted" out for far worse. Lots of fun to mess or tease him about. But really no different than being done at 3 in a bar by a bartender.

Price was using a University (State) credit card for his extravaganza. Which not only included the strip joint charges but more than $1000 for a southern belle to spend the night at his hotel, drinks for students, a trip to Pensacola, and contributions to his church. All before coaching a single game.

Holgerson was unruly in a Casino. Which is worse?

Yeah no kidding, my morals have gotten considerably better since discovering the hangover about ten years ago.
