No kidding? I had to go put the kids to bed as they were a bit freaked out from the storm tonight. I did refresh the WARN Radar on my phone I was using when we were at the mall....but I didn't watch the news after that.

We said prayers for everybody that might be affected as the storm moved eastward through the night....I guess it didn't help....

National Weather Service: Denning, Ark., Destroyed By Tornado

FORT SMITH, Ark. -- The National Weather Service is reporting that a large, dangerous tornado has destroyed the town of Denning, Arkansas, in Franklin County, just south of Altus.

The tornado hit the area about 12:15 a.m., and it continued to the northeast. Spotters reported that this large tornado was up to a mile wide at one point just before it struck Denning.

40/29 News reporter Kelly Johnson said there was lots of structural damage in the Denning area, with live power lines down in the area, and no access into Denning from the north side of town.

At least one caller reported that their home had been destroyed in Denning.

Kelly Johnson and 40/29 News reporter Tony Russell were both on the their way to the Denning area about 12:35 a.m.

Just looked at Denning on Google Earth... the town seemed to be built (mostly) of mobile homes. Probably not anything left :(

If you are sold a Mobile home in Oklahoma or really even Tornado Alley....you should get a free Fallout shelter with your purchase and if i was to build a new House....I'd definitely put in a safe/panic room that served as a fallout/tornado shelter too. These new one they are making look awesome....

This is how they should maybe secure your mobile home....

This is kind of a good idea....you could make a Oil change type pit that could also serve as a Fallout shelter.

That bus looks silly, yet I'm thinking it is quite effective.

Weather Service says strong tornado ripped through western Ark. community; several hurt

DENNING, Ark. — Officials say a strong tornado that touched down in western Arkansas has injured at least several people.

Steve Piltz, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Tulsa, said a strong tornado touched down southwest of the Altus-Denning area shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Franklin County's emergency services deputy coordinator Rick Covert said several people were hurt as the tornado and strong winds damaged homes. The extent of their injuries wasn't immediately known.

Covert says the storms also tore through a fire station near the Etna-Oak Bend area, ripping off part of the roof and blowing out several doors.

He says crews were trying to make it past downed power lines and trees to reach communities that been hit hardest by the storms.

I don't see why with a wave of his hand he doesn't make those nasty tornados go back into the sky. ;)

Denning, Ark. – Emergency officials say at least one person is dead after storms ripped through Arkansas overnight.

That brings to eight the number of people killed in storms in three states Tuesday night and early Wednesday.

Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokesman Tommy Jackson says at least one person died after a tornado ripped through the Arkansas community of Denning early Wednesday. There weren't any immediate details about how the person died.

Violent storms also killed at least five people in Oklahoma and two in Kansas.

The storms came just two days after a massive tornado tore through the southwest Missouri town of Joplin and killed 122 people.

That's kind of what I was saying Bill. I could look to the right of me and the left and see some weather that looked scary as hell.....

For those that aren't able to watch and move out of the way of these storms....I really suggest they get a smartphone. We could sit in relative safety and watch KOTV's WARN RADAR and make judgements to either move or know when it was safe to go Home.

Amazing how our Technology has gotten so much better in the last couple of years. My kids would really have been freaked if it wasn't for the phone I carried tonight.

It's wireless but it does seem to catch fish. Really stupid fish. Until now I had no idea how stupid the fish it catches are but if I was a fisherman like you....I'd invest in at least the 16 G test line one. :D
