This is actually pretty incredible.. they suck more now than they did in the '80s... I didnt think they could do it.

Awful. Just mind-blowingly awful.

I think they could back up Devo on their world wide 2011-12 tour.

I said "Whip it!"

"Whip it good!"

They were a bit disappointing. They probably should have played a classic or trilogy of their Classics and then tried to expose the masses to whatever the hell that was.

Yeah.. I'm probably not the best-qualified to comment because I never have cared for them. However, I still dont know what that crap we just heard was.

I liked their first three or so albums but never understood the obsession that Ric Ocasek was some sort of Superstar Rocker. They were better than a one hit wonder but not Led Zepplin.

Ben died a few years ago. Ric wasn't the only singer.

Thanks for that...I didn't know about Ben. Awful way to go. My Mom died from Pancreatic Cancer as well.

Benjamin Orr – bass guitar, lead and background vocals (1976–1988, died in 2000)

The Cars take suck to a whole new level. I had a friend or two that somewhat liked em back in the day...Looking back, I think they had mental problems. ;)

They were fine for the place and time (ie indy New England Alt band in 1980 collegia).
Like many wines, however, they neither travel nor age well.

Never forget, they had 'My Sharona' for competition.

I got laid a lot because of My Sharona. That was her little name for it. :D

David Letterman once called Ric Ocasek the luckiest man alive, and it wasn't because of The Cars.

If Ric Ocasek was the luckiest man does that make Paul Schaffer the luckiest Woman? Lmao!

Yep, they are. Gotta be one of the most unlikely long term celebrity marriages.

touche. but during that time they also had to go up against a good R&B indy new england alt band in J. Geils Band. and i dont mean that centerfold crap.

Wow. I have never heard praise for J. Geils Band. But that kind of makes the point: music is subjective.

Still in all, a Cars revival strikes me as a bad idea.

Ocasek, however, seemed like a fairly normal guy at the time. An ex-gf used to babysit for band members when they were on Cape Cod. Ocasek enjoyed shooting tennis balls with a .22 in the back yard and drinking beer. Didn't seem full of himself.

Liked em then, and still do. Sucked losing Ben Orr but they are a great and unique band.
