It will make little difference whether Obama is re-elected or a GOP contender wins. The system is so entrenched that nobody's good intentions will make much of an impact. Wall Street, Big Business, the Unions, and other influential groups will always get their bread buttered and the middle class will continue to get the short stick. This partisan bickering is a waste of air which could be used by someone's pet hamster.

I think you're missing my point and (not surprisingly) taking yourself too seriously. It seems like every time I turn around the fringe right wing element is screeching about the Republican candidate du jour. How they're not electable, they're too libertarian and not representative of the Republican base, etc. I was simply curious who our most ardent right wing members thought would make the best candidate? It wasn't meant to be a scenario where I was thumbing my nose at the R's and saying they didn't stand a chance against BHO. Apologies if it came across that way.

But let's face it....none of them stand a chance against BHO. He killed OBL and it sounds like we got another Taliban this morning while Brack was having a Guiness in Ireland....:D

Taliban's Mullah Omar reported dead

MULLAH OMAR, the spiritual leader of the Taliban and a former de facto head of state in Afghanistan, has been killed, local reports say.

His death, if confirmed, would be the second significant terrorist target claimed in a month, after the al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden, was assassinated on May 1.

The two were associates. Mullah Omar, the head of the Taliban regime that controlled Afghanistan between 1996 and 2001, reportedly sheltered bin Laden before and after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

I would like to see another candidate like Reagan. But even a clone of Reagan wouldn't get a lot accomplished. There is another twenty years of bad legislation on the books since we last called him President.

We need someone that can stand up and pass some laws that make us operate within the monies available at the time. Whether we like it or not we cannot continue to have so many nonproductive members of society.

The sooner we put a stop to that the better. It only gets harder as time goes by. If we wait until we are absolutely bankrupt to do so we are going to make recovery incredibly difficult if not impossible. It just seems smarter to me to do it with a plan where we have some control rather than wait for disaster.

The United States of America has provided the best conditions for more people than any other country in history. It is dumb to flush that down the toilet but that is exactly what we are doing.

They not only listen to local talk radio, but they also try and call in and express their opinions, if they can actually get on. "Hello, am on the air? Sir, turn your radio down! Hello, hello? Sir, there is a five second delay which is confusing you, so turn your radio down, please! Huh? Am I on? Yes, you are on, turn your radio down! What? Am I on? . . . . . At this point JM, I'll vote for just about anyone who is running against Barry O. But if I had a say in who that is, I'd pick Ron Paul. But as has already been noted, the Repubs seem to be imploding and cant get their sh!t together when it comes to picking a candidate and there is no clear front runner, unless you consider Romney, even though I dont think he has "officially" declared. He wouldn't be my choice, but he couldn't be any worse than BO or W, IMO.

Incidentally, I guess since I responded to your question, this post places me in the "rw moonbat" crowd, or maybe you could go as far as putting me on the "rw ****nut retard" list as well. (but I really just consider myself to be a moderate that sits a little right of center). ;)

./ Added $5 trillion to the deficit
./ Unemployment over 9%
./ Will not defend Arizona's borders
./ Tax cheats in the Cabinet
./ A failed $867 billion Stimulus
./ Sleazy associations like Ayers, Dorhn, Rezko, Wright, etc
./ Bribe, kick back, intimidation laden heathcare law
./ Redistribution of wealth
./ Transparency
./ Over 1,300 heathcare waivers
./ Can't pass a Budget

The guy is a sleazy, arrogant, lying scumbag that will do and say anything to get elected. (if you put a picture of Obama and Mussolini side by side with their noses in the air you couldn't tell much difference.)

How can anyone actually support this guy?

If you actually had some proof he was responsible rather than just a list of stuff you made up....it would probably incite the masses to do something and truly find a Candidate to stand up to him. Somehow BHO continues to get ****loads of money for his campaign even though you have pointed out what the colossal and waste of our resources he single-handedly has used to put us in this hole.

I think the weirdest part is that a good portion of America so wants to believe you are right....but they really want a candidate that will come in and actually do something about it. That's where your postings fail. You act like we are all a bunch of idiots that can't tell anything is wrong but you fail to add the name of the candidates, Senators, Representatives and Governors who are ready to cut the folks who continue to not only send the POTUS legislation to sign to keep things going....but legislation that will either immediately address what we need to do to stop us from defaulting on our interest payments on the National Debt....or to actually pass legislation that will actually stop the spending right now so that we won't have to extend the debt ceiling. We have to do something well before the 2012 election and it looks like the GOP is willing to help cause a collapse / default and try and stick the blame on the POTUS as they aren't going to agree with any of his attempts to limit the amount of cuts in entitlement spending and take a slow approach that would make them go to their constituents and ask them to take cuts as well.

Some here on the Board are ready to support Herman Cain who would do exactly that and try to institute a Fair Tax system that would do exactly what the Republicans don't want to do....raise taxes on the rich. Why would they do this? Maybe to oust the current POTUS and then suddenly drop the Fair Tax Measures and do what Paul Ryan isn't able to pull off right now? Or maybe it's even worse. Maybe it's a full fledged assault on the poor and middle class and would be a "I'm Sorry" from Herman Cain once in Office?

Whatever it might be is this....

The GOP has lost trust on the Tea Partiers and the folks who are for Obama seemingly are coming to the fact that he's still their only hope?

Our Politicians are like dogs backed into a blind alley and we are all waiting to see which one of them rises to the head of the pack and does what it takes to get us out of the mess that we are facing on 8-2-2011.

I'm guessing the POTUS and SCOTUS will end up forcing Congresses hand and we will see a historic moment in America and the Republican Party will either die or morph into a new Party of people who really are who they say they are instead of a bunch of screw their maid and hire illegal aliens to do your yard work types that have been married 2-10 times and run their campaigns on family Values.

I of course could be wrong....They may have a secret candidate I don't know about that they have been keeping on ice waiting for the right moment to surprise us all....

I hope so....because right now....all I see is 4 more years of whining and hatred about Obama when the Republican's have the ability to negotiate a way to deal with this debt and possibly get the White House back in 2016.

I'm not sure they can get their cake and eat it too at this point.

If you actually had some proof he was responsible rather than just a list of stuff you made up....

./ Over 1,300 heathcare waivers
./ Bribe, kick back, intimidation laden heathcare law

The Obama administration approved 204 new waivers to Democrats' healthcare reform law over the past month, bringing the total to 1,372.

http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/161203-hhs-approves-200-more-new-healthcare-reform-waivers-

So when Ben Nelson and Mary Landrieu took millions of dollars for their respective states in exchange for their support for HCR, that wasn't a bribe? We should also assume that no politician who faced the furor at town hall meetings over the summer of 2009 needed to have his/her arm twisted in order to get them to vote for a program that so far is only impressive for the ever-growing number of Obama supporters being exempted?

./ A failed $867 billion Stimulus

The stimulus saved or created public sector jobs while hurting private sector job growth....so who pays for those public sector jobs? Too bad we can't count on taxes from the million new private-sector jobs that the economists cited below believe were forestalled or prevented by the stimulus:

http://web.econ.ohio-state.edu/dupor/arra10_may11.pdf

./ Unemployment over 9%

Unemployment Rate:
9.0% in Apr 2011

http://www.bls.gov/

At what point do we begin blaming this administration, or quit letting it continue to blame others, for the lack of improvement?

./ Tax cheats in the Cabinet After all, it was only the Secretary of the Treasury

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Geithner#Personal_tax_issues

./ Sleazy associations like Ayers, Dorhn, Rezko, Wright, etc

Do we really need a link for this one? So do you deny that he associated with them, or do you just feel that no association with unapologetic domestic terrorists, convicted criminals or race- and hate-baiting preachers should ever be considered sleazy? (Of course that list just might also describe most of the South Oval regulars - noobs excluded, of course.)

What pizzes me more than what is listed above is the constant blame-game being played by the man who promised to be a uniter and post-partisan leader. Blame the rich, blame the oil companies, blame the GOP, blame Bush (endlessly), blame the Cambridge police, blame and tar and feather anyone who speaks out against this administration or its policies.

It also ticks me that this administration pressured Honduras to allow its former president Zeleya - who had been overthrown after attempting to use force to establish himself as a perpetual president not subject to such trivia as constitutional term limits or honest elections - to return to power, and has turned a cold shoulder towards one of our best SA allies, Colombia, all the while making nice with Chavez.

It ticks me royally that members of this administration opted to reward its union supporters in the Chrysler bailout, and dictated who could or couldn't keep their dealerships, and told those who thought they had invested low-risk low-return capital into Chrysler that they had to go to the back of the line, which flies in the face of long-established law and practice.

....I of course could be wrong....

You get a lot of things right, Stoop. And yeah, the hating goes too far, too often.

Well, in all fairness the 3 people I singled out haven't shown the ability to engage in rational discourse since they've been posting on this board, so my thread title was in fact a bit tongue in cheek. Moonbat is a ripoff phrase from Neal boortz. He refers to leftists as moonbats all the time. Perhaps that is the origin of the title of the thread.

Moonbat seems to more appropriately describe a leftist. Wingnut seems more appropriate for an extreme right winger. Jmo.

I think the term has been around a bit longer than Neal Boortz. So his use of the word is irrelevant. Moonbat, wingnut...personally, I don't see the difference.

Both are jabs at someone's political views, but to me there is a difference. I see pretty much any liberal, especially the far leftists as spacey; thus, moonbats. I see the right wing extremist social conservatives as being nutty; hence, wing nuts.

To each his or her own, but that is how I view it. :)

That is completely fair. I have no problem with that. I see a certain group of conservatives (not all of them) as bible banging right winged wackos. I actually have no problem with fiscal conservatives, but I have no use for social conservatives, who attempt to make everyone follow their strange and archaic rules.

You'll get your chance to spew venom. You calling JM a Spitting Cobra?

JM, you can start now. What do you not like about Michelle Bachman?(especially as she might be objectionable enough to actually vote for Obama over her)

My time will come? WTF does that mean?

It either meas that you'll get your chance to make fun of the candidates in due time....

or

He's gonna make you squeal like a little piggy.....

I definitely think "moonbat" is more of a behavior thing than a political philosophy.

And if moonbats are repetitive and obsessive, he nailed you.:D

Well who on this board hasn't JM nailed.

Oh, that's not what you meant.

I'm not even an Obama fan. Unless some complete and total dip**** (i.e. Michele Bachmann or Newt Gingrich) gets the R nod I'm not voting for BHO.

I think everybody misreads my positions because I happen to think the Republican party is a joke. Doesn't mean I automatically am some left wing Obama fellating hippie, I just am free of the shackles of the two party system as I think neither is really doing this country any good.

My time will come? WTF does that mean?

It means you'll get your chance to tear the candidates down on a personal level. We all do it sometimes. Say what you want, buy that's what you're looking to do.

I'll make an informed decision. If that's not good enough for you I don't care. As I said before, being an indie, it's not my decision to make at this stage. The only reason I commented at all is because you are pushing for answers before we even know who's running. It's stupid.

It's stupid for us as the American people who come together here from different points in our lives with varying political opinions to throw around names of people who we think should or shouldn't be part of the most important of political processes? We should instead just sit back and be spoon fed information from the media and the political parties themselves? You're bristling at my notion that we should talk shop about the possible candidates when it's something very normal, something we do in my house and among my friends. You're making very little sense here.

I'll go first. I think Chris Christie would be someone who would give BHO a real run for his money. I think he would play well in NJ, PA and the rust belt. If PA fell to the R's Obama would have a tough time winning a second term. It's arguably the most important state in the coming election.

I also would absolutely love to see Ron Paul win the nomination and go against Obama. I think it'd be an amazing series of debates. I'd love to see if on a national level Ron Paul would resonate with the populace.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Offering up opinions and discussing things. Now as I mentioned earlier, the three people I referenced in the title of this thread have in the past done a poor job of offering up anything more than, "HAHA. Obama is a socialist. Marxist. Terrorist. HAHA. <insert random newsmax quote here>, etc."

Whatever. Maybe somebody out there can satisfy you. I'll take part when it's not premature.

what i'm learning from this thread is that you are either side with the moonbats, or you are a commie :D

i guess there are only two parties because that's all you need for "us and them"

You forgot the beer party. We're as extreme as the left tries to paint the teaparty.

Tea is weak. Go Beer Party. Lol. I wish I could take credit for that. Thank you, Mike Church.

Huh. I was going to go for the easy "anybody that really pi$$es off JohnnyMack."

Probably redundant and covered already just by saying "Republican"...

Ron Paul and Herman Cain are my 2 favorites. I would love it if Gary Johnson won too. Don't care much for anyone else running. Romney is pretty much a democrat. Palin is too inconsistent. Perry I would be okay with, but just okay. I think about any of these can beat Obama because Obama is probably going to run an opposite campaign from last time. Because let's face it his record as a president stinks. He can't win on Hope and Change with what he's done.

So how do we really know he's truely black? Have you run down his family tree like you did Obama's?

I'm thinking we will file Nate under "Moonbat"

Genealogist at your service! According to the 1920 US Census, Herman Cain's maternal grandmother was mulatto. Records for later ancestors and their children also identify them as mulatto.
