looks like a really nice park !!

who does tulsa belong to ??

what happened to their "oilers" name???

guess it's been gone a long time.

we went to a few oilers games when i was a kid. my Dad was a great baseball fan.

even saw an exb game between Giants & Indians one year, late 40s or early
50s.
drove up from okmulgee, about 50 miles, back before they straightened out hwy 75.

wow. you are an old timer.

did you ever see any of the barnstorming teams come through Oklahoma semi-pro leagues after WW II?

Negroe League all-star teams came through? my granddad pitched a game against Satchel Page for the Perry Merchants. he had minor league contract offers from the Cubs and Cards.....after the war.

you probably listened to KMOX and the Cards.

i saw a negro league game. (in tulsa) i THINK it was KC Monarchs & maybe
Memphis Blues. (could be wrong).

there were several minor leagues after (& before) the war. KOM league, Sooner State league & Western Association. WA had muskogee & Joplin.

Mickey Mantle played in Joplin on his way up.

we saw Satchel Page @ a St. Louis Browns game. I think it was about 51 or 52.i can't remember if he pitched that day, but you could see him in the bullpen.

i don't think we could get KMOX in tulsa when i lived there. (left OK in 63).
only baseball you could get, was Oilers or Cards when Oilers were on the road .at least i think that's the way it was. I got to where i couldn't stand Harry Carey. Jack Buck was OK>
TV & air conditioning ruined those lower minor leagues. too bad.

i read once where Okmulgee had a team, but they folded in about 1928. (even i wasn't born then) their name was Drillers.

StoopTroup
5/21/2011, 11:17 PM
Sometimes 1,900 sometimes 5,000....

It's usually not many unless it's a good promotion and it's the weekend.

I'm not sure what the new numbers are since they opened the new park.

When OU and oSu play down there they sell out usually

The site says they have had 13 sellouts.
