:( :( :( :( :( :(

My cat Sanbo, commonly referred to as kitty, was 17 years old. I'd had her since 9th grade. She started not eating 10 days ago and lost a ton of weight. I took her to the vet and she seemed to get better, but then wasnt able to go to the box and was starting to become lethargic and lose her balance. So after another trip to the vet, she finally started taking food, but still couldnt really move and seemed to be suffering a lot. I couldnt stand it anymore and think I did the right thing by her.

It just really sucks though...

I buried her and then made a little memorial garden on top.

P.S. I know she was just an animal and not a person. So if that is all you are going to contribute to this thread please keep those thoughts to yourself. Thanks.

Fraggle, I am sorry to hear about your loss. Our old cat, Sophie, was 17 when she took off and never came home. Prior to leaving, she had quit eating as well. I don't know how many animals I have owned in my life, but it is never easy to lose one.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Fraggle. I imagine that Sanbo knew how much you loved her and cared and you obviously gave her a great home in Oklahoma. She was a Sooner.

Ya this was the first animal that I have owned that I had to do the hard part. My family had dogs when I was a kid, but they lived at my parents house so I was in college when they passed.

My wife was telling me that it hurts so much because its the longest relationship I have had in my adult life. Weird when you think about it that way...

I agree Redrex. Was there any kind of settlement on that. What kind of food were you feeding it.

Sorry to hear Fraggle. My wife and I are dealing with our dog slipping away right now. He's losing his battle a little more everyday and eventually we'll have to put him down. You had to do what was humane and we face that as well just like our last two pets. I'm dreading that day.

I agree Redrex. Was there any kind of settlement on that. What kind of food were you feeding it.---Special Kitty in a pouch---I think they ended up with about $250,000 total for all claims----I filed out the paper work and had close to $1,000 in vet bills I sent in---I received a letter last week that I will get a pro rata share of the total---I am sure it will be about $10----The big losers are the Chinese producers that knowingly put something in the food to get it to pass a test---problem was it was poisonous---They were put to death----Harsh but fair

Sorry to hear of your loss Fraggle. Bob has got a few years left I hope. He's old but still acts like a kitten. The only cat I loved or liked and he's not even mine (my niece's). We hang out a lot together now that she's in college.

Sorry to hear this, Fraggle. I've had dogs and cats all my life and it's always hard to lose one. 17 years is a good, long life for a feline, but it's always tough when that inevitable day comes. I have a cat that just turned 14 and I know the day is not that far away when I'll have to let him go. We just have to enjoy them while we can. Condolences to you for your loss of your pal.

You have my heart felt sympathy Fraggle.

I had to take my dog Buddy to the vets and have him put to sleep the day after I got back from the Washington game. I told my wife it felt like taking one of my kids. To this day I still expect him to meet me at the door when I come home from work.

My wife got us a cat when we'd been married for about a week. He was black & white; named him Oreo. What a great friend he was! For sixteen yrs...

The day I took Orie in to be put down was a day of infamy. :(
