I went to a small high school outside of Lawton. From the time I moved out there to the time I graduated it had grown a lot, but the last 3 years, it has really expanded. This is all thanks to Fort Sill.

I'm not complaining. They are building houses in Elgin (13 miles from Lawton) like crazy (including mine in 2009). It's not hurting my property value.

But we need Chinese food joint out here. Lawton has dozens. Elgin, zero.

I heard there were plans to raise the elevation of Mount Scott to 3000 feet. Sounds like a great use of federal dollars.. ;)

jk3 is likely to branch Field Artillery when he graduates from WP - so he'd go there for Officer Basic.....he was also born there

the chance of me getting recalled is pretty slim

That would suck if we as older curmudgeons were called up and had our kids or nephews giving us orders.....lol

I remember now about when JK3 came Home. I thought that was the other Mods kid though. :D ;)

My bro-in-law worked (for free) for several years to save a Navy base from BRAC. (in CA) their effort was successful, they recently added about 800 (civilian) jobs.

I have a friend, who does a great amount of construction work at Ft. Sill. He had a King Air five years ago. Now he has a private jet.

I met a lot of kids from Elgin at Southwest Air QB/WR/TE/RB camp. Some of the nicest/most competitive people you will ever meet. They didnt know the difference between a tunnel and bubble screen was though :D
