That's the weird thing, they are Dallas Radio and huge Mavs fans, so it wasn't in blind defense of Westbrook.

if it was Berry Tramel who said it, it was probably in blind defense but if not it could have been a way for them to make the Mavs victory look that much better but believe me, the stat is false.

Well I seem to have ruffled some feathers. Listen, you all know what I am saying is true you just dont want to admit it. Westbrooks play is killing the Thunder right now. I will stop with the Thunder bashing because I do like them a lot and they are going to be a force the the next decade.

I will say though, if Westbrook hits his 15ft jumper, that he usually misses 6 seconds into the shot clock with wide open shooters on both wings, then he is unstoppable combined with his ability to drive the ball to the basket. Ive yet to see that in this series though and so have all of you so continue to tell me im crazy but what im saying isnt bashing its observation. They would be unstoppable with a more unselfish pg who played to his strengths. Im not saying Westbrook cant be that guy, but right now he isnt being that guy.

Oh and I cant stand Skip Bayless, total moron. ;)

But Westbrook's tunnel vision is part of their offense. And most nights he hits a good % of those pull-up 15 footers. Hell, you heard Brooks' defense of their starting rotation, they've got 3 defensive players and KD/Westbrook are the 2-man point production crew. Yes it is frustrating to watch sometimes. But then again, we also know this is how they've won more games than they really should've the past 2 years.

If you want to pin anything on anyone, start with Brooks but it's not like there are any bulletproof teams out there who don't have roster issues they'd love to address. And this Mavs team is really really good.

So I don't blame Westbrook for much. He's a matchup nightmare for 90% of the league. His turnovers is what kills me! Losing dribbles and getting stripped on his way to the basket, stuff like that.

Thats a very fair assessment, and believe me the mavs have many issues too, the only reason I even started chiming in was due to a bunch of Thunder fans on here acting like they are invincible along with listening to the sports animal all the time and hearing them act like the Thunder only lose due to bad officiating. Anyway, you are right though, it falls squarely on Brooks' shoulders to use Westbrook more efficiently because he has a boatload of talent and unbelievable quickness and hops for a pg but desperately needs a coach to keep him in check and manage him while hes on the court, keep his head on straight.

I created an espn account so I could chat on the espn game threads but the thunder fans on there are embarrassing. Almost all of the posters on those threads are idjits (no matter what team) but believe me, I know what you're saying.

Cant really complain about fouls when you're shooting twice as many as the other team :)

Westbrook's best game of the playoffs in my opinion was Memphis game 7.....He played and distributed the basketball flawlessly in that game. If any of you want to know why we have complaints as fans on Westbrook, look back at Memphis game 4, the triple OT thriller. You'll clearly see that Westbrook just had to have the ball in his hands on all of those the final shots. He thought he was the superstar and throughtout the game he displayed extreme ball hogging. Just look at his FG percentage and compare it to KD's in that game. Ridiculous. When Westbrook has more FG's than KD, that's a problem in my opinion. That's like Pippen trying to take the role of Jordan with Jordan still in the game. Unforunately, his missed all of the last second shots, and we were lucky to squeeze out the win in 3rd OT.

The problem with this is KD should be making both those last second shots and he should have more FG's than Westbrook. KD is the superstar, not Westbrook. Westbrook is awesome, but KD is a superstar. There's a reason he's led the league in scoring for back to back years. He can put the basketball in the bucket....

I agree but you can watch KD on those possessions, he will wave off his desire for the ball and try to create room for Russell. It made sense when he had Battier or Tony Allen draped all over him but I guess he felt like he was in that same situation Saturday

I notice the commentators take liberties with the OKC crowd that they don't take with other crowds. For example, Dallas yelled "Ref you suck" every chance they had, and not once were they patronized as the OKC crowd was patronized by Jeff Van Gundy.

Sucks being a small market.

If they are going to bag on our fans....I'm gonna trash the stupid idiot taking up Westbrook's time at half...

You should be concerned because of what Magic just said: The Thunder shot 58%, caused 11 turnovers, got 9 offensive rebounds to Dallas's 1 and the lead is just 5.

Mavs took the haymaker, landed on their feet and Dirk is rolling. Gonna be a great second half.

proud of the Thunder.....but someone on that team has to realize you cant go into "hold on to a lead" mode. That half court offense froze and it became a RW or KD run down the clock and try to get a shot up.

Meltdown is an understatement, just really atrocious & disgraceful play by professional athletes.

It's apparent that this team sucks at holding onto leads, as their minds go back into the bus like they think the game is over. How many times is this now?

Also, Durant isn't a one man show like Nowitzki, and, IMO, isn't the scorer in crunch time that Dirk is. KD just doesn't have the shooting ability, and really struggles against good defenders like Marion. Somebody else has to step up on this team when he gets doubled.

Also, this team needs some better ball-handlers. My HS team protected the ball better.

The fact that the team played so well until 4:00 min left in the 4th is totally negated by the meltdown.

Thunder fans still have a lot to be happy about. Sure its tough to lose a game at home like that but this is just the beginning. Last year, they challenge LA as an 8 seed. This year they improve 4 seeds and make it to the WCF....NEXT YEAR? Won't be surprised at all if they are the #1 seed in the west and make a run to the finals. This may be it for the Mavs (unless they get howard) I just hope the Mavs win it all to finally get much deserved respect.

Two major improvements are needed, IMO:

1. We have to make improvements in ball security, which starts with the guard positions. Our turnover problem is going to cost us in the future.

2. Also, our defense is average, plain and simple. It simply needs to get better if we want to win championships.

I'm actually very happy with our inside presence with Ibaka, Collison, and Perkins, but our guard play is questionable at times.

I think #1 will happen with Westbrook having another year experience running the point. Win or lose I think he'll grow from having gone through the playoff grind, but so will all the Thunder.

I think the defensive parts are there, same as above: go through some tough playoff series, especially when you get beat (as it looks like they will) and they'll learn how very important defense is when you get in a tough series. I mean just one more stop in regulation they win the game. That's overly simplistic obviously...

Anyway, I think the parts are in place, they just need the experience and growth.

Can't execute in the half court offense, and that's what playoff basketball is all about.

Yep. And I refuse to believe James Harden fouling out had that much of an impact on the Thunder's offensive sets during the last 9:47 of the game.

They froze up offensively and settled for 3's, much like the Mavs have had a tendency to do, instead of attacking the rim and drawing calls.

And speaking of settling, what's with the lack of originality of final shots in regulation to win games? Part of that might have had to do with Dallas forcing Sefolosha to inbound the ball to Westbrook into the corner near the half court line and forcing the ball into Durant's hands 35 feet from the bucket.

But there were 3 seconds left on the clock when Marion blocked the shot...and it sure looked like Sefolosha was open on the wing with a much better look.

The same thing happened back in Game 3 of the Memphis series at the end of regulation to the Thunder and it's got to be mind boggling for you guys.

At any rate, whatever happens in this series, OKC has gained a wealth of experience that should benefit them in the future.

There obviously aren't any guarantees that you'll make it back to the WCF every year as it took Dallas 3 years after 2003 to get back there, and then another five years.

I do agree with Informant that the guard play has to be much, much better. Nothing short circuits an offense more than turnovers and the entire team needs to get better at protecting the ball.

And while Perkins has helped you guys, I do think you guys could stand to get a better offensive threat down low. Then you guys would be deadly.

As for my team? Well, I hope they close it out on Wednesday and the Bulls-Heat at least make it to 6 games so Jason Kidd can get another week of rest. :D

Our Thunder squad is likely going to lose this series, but the season has been downright amazing. This game still intrigues me also, considering our meltdown in game 4. Do we see a team that crawls under a rock / folds up tent, or do we see a team that goes straight-up Detroit Pistons (old school) style on their opponents? Will we bring another game to OKC?

We have the youngest team in the NBA and we made the WCFs, which, IMO, is pretty darn cool. I would just love a big ending to the series though, because I think it would pay dividends regarding our confidence level going forward.
