Did some research on our record up in stillwater since the pokes think its so hard to play there blah blah blah. OSU's record against us is 6-34-5 :D Carry on

Wow. Good stuff.

We are 19-2-1 in last 22 meetings there.

Longest losing streak to the Pokes. 2.

:stunned: This is Stunned Aggie with your moral victory interruption.

Stillwater games this decade:
47-41
61-41
27-21
38-35
38-28
12-7

Norman games this decade:
27-0
49-17
42-14
52-9
16-13

:stunned: As you can clearly see, Fairweather Fan Cheatin' Gooners, the margin of victory is far less in Stillwater than it is in Norman. I would venture to say that we Pokes beat the point spread in a few of those Gooner "victories."

82-16-7 is the overall series record. What did you expect??? 15 wins in Stillwater?

As my impersonation of :stunned: already said, the record might be as lopsided as ever in Stilly, but they are far more competitive games on the road than in Norman, even on the injury bug year (2009 shutout), even the RB year when we were both unranked (2005, 42-14 in Norman), even Sammie's first year starting (2007, 42-14).

By contrast, there have been far more heart stopping, hold your breath "I CAN'T LOOK!" finishes in Stilly when us gooners come to town... like when Dusty D was reportedly yelling "THIS IS FOR THE BIG 12 SOUTH!" at the kicker as the field goal attempt sails wide and we win 38-35, like a final touchdown attempt dropped by Stilly in the endzone and we win 27-21, like last year's shootout, even if Boone left early and we won 47-41, like the "close" 20-point victory when we had to gain as many BCS brownie points as possible (and did by scoring more than 60 for the billionth-straight time, winning 61-41).

The list goes on. I would so rather play them all in Norman :D

I'd rather play them in Stillwater. We dash their hopes every year we play them there in new and exciting ways; I wouldn't have it any other way.

We actually have a better record against them in Stillwater than in Norman. I would have to look to see where most of the thirty some shut outs have happened.

The determining game in this series was played at a neutral site. November 6, 1904 Island Park in Guthrie, Oklahoma the Sooners pulled out a nail biting 75-0 win.

The Aggys realizing how close they came to winning coined the battle cry "Next Year". Living up to that promise they won their first game in the series in 1917.

The pokes are proud to know that the Sooners have never won twenty in a row. Although there have been a few runs that oSu has only won one game in 25+ tries the Cowboys Fans know the talent level and performance of the teams is a virtural toss up.

Feeling that they have the better bathrooms in Stillwater, that fact alone should absolutely guarantee them a victory this year. Afterall they practically won the conference last year even though they got punked by the two teams that played in the Conference Championship Game.

When did they beat us? I know they beat us twice this decade, but when were the other fourteen times?

I worked with a guy who used the "it's bedlam, anything can happen!" line while we were analyzing OSU's schedule in '07. That was the first time I had ever heard the line and I kept the rest of the convo' nice and polite. Later on that day, I was trying to figure out how the "It's bedlam..." line made any sense. Well, I failed and have come to the conclusion that it's a denial statement by the aggie faithful to speak into existence what will probably never be.

Honestly, I'll give the pokes credit on one thing. It takes a pride-swallowing, heart crushing dedication to have your identity and soul invested in a team that leaves you in tears and cursing the sports world nearly every single season.

No you don't know them. Most of them haven't traditionally been oSu fans. They are OU haters. Until very recently very few of them could name one player on the Cowboys, but they always know which Sooner sucks. By sucks I mean wildly successful.

I have made points in bedlam forums for years. If OSU comes within 7-10 points of OU they act like they won the game. Last season fans were claiming we cost them a national title bid if Oregon or Auburn had lost. I laugh at that to this day; because OSU would not have jumped to the top two in the BCS.

SoonerofAlabama
5/11/2011, 08:11 PM
At the time they were #9. If they had beat us when we were #13 they wouldn't have jumped seven spots. They probably would have jumped two at the most. Then they would have had to play Nebraska again for the Big XII title game, and Nebraska beat them 51-41 earlier in the season.

Beating them in Stillwater is so sweet! I love how the students pound the black matt with their spirit sticks and they get all excited with their waving wheat, only to see them drop their heads in disgust as the Sooners leave with yet another victory. Then talk goes from how great their team is, to how the Sooners only won because they cheat.

I think the game should never be played in Stillwater until they change their ticket policy. In fact until they do we should institute a zero orange policy.

So in other words they had a slightly above average record against us when we had those AWFUL teams in the 90's.

SoonerDood
5/11/2011, 10:53 PM
They "Dominated the 90s" with a 3-6-1 record against us. I hear that one a lot. I guess when you go 3-41 from 1946-89, 3-6-1 from 1990-99 isn't so bad.

Since you are into research...

Of all instate rivalries between the top 2 or 3 teams in the state...OU vs. OSU is the most lopsided record.

Look it up!

I don't know what "determining" means in that post, but the rest is right. That park is now called Mineral Wells and during that game there was a creek that was in the field of play. On one play, a fumble found its way into the creek. Players from both sides dove into the creek to recover it. When a Sooner player stepped out of the creek with the football, he stepped into the endzone for a TD. One of many for the Sooners that day.

In the early aughts, they were all like "We won 5 of the last 8" in 2002. Then, as the aughts handed them two-straight losses, they were all like "2 of the last 4" and then whenit became of the last 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... they just don't mention those magical early aught years when they could say "5 of the last 8."

For awhile there, they were convinced that no team (except their team, but of course) would ever win more than two in a row in the series ever again. Alas, we disproved that myth in 2005. They are probably back to the early Poke thinkin' days, wondering if they'll ever beat us in football again :stunned:

Gandalf_The_Grey
5/12/2011, 10:04 AM
Oh they will beat us again in the year 2073, when Reginald Stoops allows Bob "no defense" Venables to run a 11 man front with no defensive backs. They will beat us after a later quarter fumble leads to a 117-114 Poke win.

i guess... but that would involve us losing a game every year :(

when creating that gif, I thought it was fun how the ranking number follows us from game to game :D but also remember that the Pokes genuinely thought they would win each and every one of those games.

2003: Because of :les: speech about one team being the best in the country and the other being a pretty good team and that it was time to find out "which was which."

2004: Because they won the last time they were in Stilly and even made shirts reminding us of that (seriously, they completely ignored 52-9 and had "pokes win" shirts. a photo on here somewhere of stunned aggie has one of them from that game)

2005: Because they were under the incorrect belief that during this era of the B-word game, no team would ever win more than two in a row. Whoops.

2006: Another home game and a lot of fight and resolve or something... and they nearly did win... too bad that pass was incomplete :stunned:

2007: OK, so even the most unreasonable Poke fan might not have seen any possible way to win this one... didn't stop the little orange dots from appearing at Owen Field though

2008: They were ranked, they were having a "dream season" and had the opportunity to spoil our three-way-tie blah blah yadda yadda... lose.

2009: It was almost adorable how unconfident they acted after being far removed from beating us. Glad they didn't get their hopes up too much. [hairGel]

2010: Another "dream season" disappointment. With the spare BCS spots claimed, they were relegated to the Alamo Bowl in their best season. Ouch!
