Is the new head coach of the Maryland Terrapins. "My Source" said he informed the A&M basketball team and program of his intentions. Supposedly he is also taking his top recruit Branch with him.

Buzz Williams is their top candidate to replace the vacant position.

A bit of a surprise as I don't know of any connections he had with the East Coast. (Unlike the Arizona coach who stayed put.) And good luck to the aggies getting Buzz to come to College Station. (Although in todays wacky sports world, you never know.)

Soooo... anyone lurk at Texags message boards to see the tradition aggie meltdown that's usually reserved for football losses? :rcmad:

So I peeked at Texags' men's basketball forum...

Linky (http://texags.com/main/forum.topic.asp?forum_id=7&days=5)

And they are asking questions like "Do you all think Coach K could be talked into coming to A&M?" and then coming to their little aggies senses with posts like "What did they expect us to do? Our state has bankrupted higher education and our Athletic Department had to take out a $16 Million loan to stay afloat. We are not in a position like t.u. and Bama where we can just throw money at problems. Until we find some bigger and more donors, we are going to have to take what we can get."

Btw, thank you again to whichever anonymous donors were behind getting Lon in. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I wish I was wealthy so I could have gotten him here a year sooner :)

Exactly what thread had the "$16 million loan thing" in it?
