Wife had it on the tube the other day. De Niro plays a crusty fire breathing officer with a southern accent. The accent sucked.

Correction..

He didn't play an officer. He played a Master Chief. If you watch carefully, he actually regresses in rank down to a Chief by the end of the movie.

Great story and good movie. Love the end when he starts busting Cookies a$$ for his 12 steps.

That's the probelm , I didn't watch it carefully. De Niro is considered a great actor of a generation but he can't do the southern thing yo.

I also think his mole moved.

Have you seen the 90s version of Cape Fear with DeNiro as a Southern ex-con who exacts revenge on his former defense attorney Nick Nolte for withholding exculpatory evidence during his criminal case? I thought DeNiro did a pretty good job, although he is undoubtedly his best playing Eastern wise guys.

Has anyone ever noticed DeNiro stomps on someone or there is a stomping scene shot from the victim's vantage point on the ground in most of his movies? He does it in Mean Streets; Raging Bull (he stomps his brother); Goodfellas (he stomps on Billy Batts), Casino (Joe Pesci stomps on someone); A Bronx Tale (Sonny stomps on biker who trashed his bar). The DeNiro Stomp is his MO.
