All this realignment junk we went through made me think, if we could put together ANY conference we wanted to, what would it look like?
Here's my 10 team "no conference play-off" wish list:
Oklahoma
Alabama
Notre Dame
Penn St.
Ohio State
Florida
Oregon
USC
LSU
Texas
Somewhat based on tradition and "what have you done lately?"

That PAC-16 Conference was a real possibilty. Probably the closest thing we'll get to a "Dream Conference."

We would never win another title.
Never is probably extreme, but playing in a conference of this nature would stack the deck against anyone.

we would lose 3-4 games a year.
I do not think any of these schools would ever win another national championship if they were in the same conference.

ND doesn't belong there...and I have sincere doubts they ever will, again, climb college football's greased pole.

Heck you would probably have conference champions each year with 2 losses.

NCAA Football should be run like the Premier League in soccer. I know, soccer sux, amirite? But hear me out.
60 teams in the top league. Six conferences, ten teams each or five conferences with 12 teams each. Based roughly on geography. Each year teams ranked in the bottom 5-10 are relegated to the lower league while teams in the top 5-10 of the lower league are promoted to the top.
Games between leagues do not count for or against the top tier teams and serve only to give the teams extra revenue or practice or whatever. At the end of the season, conference champions are seeded in a tournament based off of a BCS-like formula.
and if u want a 12 team league ... redo the SWC / Big-8 merge
Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor, LSU, Arkansas
OU, Okla St., Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri

OU
Boston Celtics
New York Yankees
Tiger Woods (pre sex addiction)
Lyoto Machida
Barcelona
Green Bay Packers
Rafael Nadal

Danica Patrick
and Gus Johnson as designated play-by-play announcer.
We would never win another title.
All of the accountants in Austin would never be able to decipher all of the tie breakers, but you can bet their planes would be flying pulling banners all over America.
