most overrated actor of all time?

I remember reading a stat that his movies make the least for what they spend, in terms of a ratio, or somethng.

anyway he sucks.

Why do haters hate?

So what is the funniest movie to you or who has the style of humor you enjoy most? I never understand folks who cannot appreciate Anchorman and Step Brothers. It's not Oscar acting...but it is funny as hell.

When he's allowed to just be silly, he's funny. He's not 'scripted-delivery-punchline' funny.

Agreed. Stupid funny is him. But if you are a Will Farrell fan you should know this. I have not and will never see Land of the Lost or that movie with him and Mark Wahlberg. I see the preview and know it is not his strong suit.

His gig is Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Step Brothers and Old School. Greatness.

But to say "most overrated actor of all time"? That's just sick...and I mean sick in the real way not the way jlew uses it on football threads.

This.

Old School, Elf, and Anchorman were Ferrell's best/funniest movies IMO. Everything else I don't like at all. So far, not impressed with his character in The Office. I think it could be so much more.

I think the best possibility is if Ricky Gervais took over the job. He's clearly demonstrated that he can do it. That would also bring the show back closer to its original form.

I don't think Gervais has interest in doing more than a short stint though. If he wanted to do more he would resurrect the British version. I am looking forward to seeing what they do with him though.

My only problem is understanding what the heck he's saying...

As for Ferrell, I liked his character on The Office. It was a little more understated that Carell's character but I think that had to be the case.

I've tried watching the British version of The Office with Gervais in it because I have heard it's even funnier than the US one. Couldn't understand a word anyone, especially Gervais, was saying. So I have no idea if it's funny.

Gervais has been on record as saying they ended it the way they ended it (British version) because if they had continued it would have gotten stale in a short time. Besides, he's made more money from there being American, Australian, French, and German 'knock off' versions of that show that have to pay him royalties as being the creator of the show, which is why you see his name listed in the opening credits every episode.

I think he is more involved in the American version that some of the others. BTW, I believe there is a French Canadian version as well.

I wasn't aware that there was an Australian version. I'd love to check it out. It would be fun to be able to speak all of those languages and compare how the other shows have evolved.

Is it worth the effort for something that doesn't entertain you?

I've watched shows on it, but watching on a laptop seem silly unless you really like what you are watching.

You think you can major on the part of the concept I was questioning?

Seriously, though....for those that are so adamant that Will Ferrell has never been funny in anything...who is funny to you?

Nic Cage has one character, he makes every script fit the one character he can do.

Will Ferrell is like every other comedian, some things he does are home runs and others are strikeouts. It happens.

Comedians have to have quality material. Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor all made some awful films in addition to their classics. Sandler's Little Nicky was not good at all, coming from a big Sandler fan.
