Anything short of a sweep, would be disappointing. We need to finish the season strong with the final 10 games.

Sweeps are VERY tough to come by in conference play. We need to win 2 of 3 this weekend, 3 of 4 next weekend and 2 of 3 at Baylor. That SHOULD secure a regional bid. Hell, if we go on a 10-game winning streak you can start thinking about a national seed. By your logic, we should EXPECT that, right?

Sooner95
5/6/2011, 09:43 AM
Hell yeah..lol My logic is to beat the teams we should beat.

i know sweeps are difficult, but not unheard of. Kansas isn't very good, we are better (at least should be) therefore we should sweep.

Overall though, I'd be happy going 8-2 over the final 10..even 7-3. That would give us 40 wins heading into Tourney play.

I'm preparing myself for 7-3, will be thrilled with 8-2 and overjoyed with anything better! Anything worse than 7-3 (meaning a series loss) and I'm afraid we'll be on the road for the postseason. For this team, that might not be a horrible thing. For me, as a fan, that would suck because hosting a regional is my favorite weekend of the year in ANY sport (and probably in life in general!).

Whomever's available would be my guess. Probably Overton, but they just may play it by whomever hasn't been needed by that point. Here's hoping for a complete game from Rocha tonight.

12-1 final. I just got back from the game. If we don't sweep these guys, I will be upset. They play turrible d. 3 errors easily cost them 5 runs and I don't see anything changing. Here's to a sweep.

Indeed.

i was just checking around what other teams did yesterday. that Dallas baptist team is pretty good. since they beat us, they have went on to defeat TCU, @TTech and have split the first 2 of a 3 games set vs A&M.

They are playing TCU this weekend so their loss has no impact on the conference standings.

Right. We win tomorrow and we're tied with them for third. We have Baylor left. They have Baylor and Texas Tech left. Those two games we lost to weather are really going to bite us in the conference race.

Why is Ryan Duke still our "closer"?

In his defense, most closers don't go 2 and a third...he's been in there for a while, at this point...still, he reminds me of Cordero for the Reds, who always makes it interesting, to say the least...

5/8/2011, 04:19 PM

Duke is a closer not a reliver. Come in the 9th and shut the other team down. He does not have the variety to go through the line more than once. That is why I argued against the idea that he could be a starter last year. Used properly he is a big advantage for our team. With Mayfield and Shore hurt SG may feel he had no one else to go to.

Not true. Percentage points don't matter. We would be tied in the games column, which goes to a tie-breaker, which we lose.

Are you sure it doesn't go by percentage points?

I thought it was:
1. Winning percentage
2. Tie breaker if the winning percentage was the same.

TumbleweedDoom
5/9/2011, 02:04 PM
It is percentage points, trust me. Only if you are tied in exact winning percentage does it go to the tiebreaker.
