This list is supposed to be based solely on statistics and not post-season awards: such as, the Heisman Memorial Trophy, the National Player of the Year Award, All-American Status, etc; but I understand if you choose one becuase of said awards. I did only one player per year. Also, this list is not in my ranking order, but you may rank in your own order if you so please:

1. QB Sam Bradford-Sophomore 2008

3. QB Josh Heupel-Senior 2000

8. Sam Bradford-Freshmen 2007
237-341, 3,121 Yds, 36 TDs, 8 Int, 69.5%. 11-3 Record, BCS Bowl App.

9. Paul Thompson-Senior 2006
204-336, 2,667 Yds, 22 TDs, 11 Int, 60.7%. 11-3 Record, BCS Bowl App.

10. Josh Heupel-Junior 1999
405-617, 3,850 Yds, 33 TDs, 15 Int, 63.1%. 7-5 Record, Ind. Bowl App.

11. Rhett Bomar-Freshmen 2005
167-308, 2,018 Yds, 10 TDs, 10 Int, 54.2%. 8-4 Record, Holiday Bowl App.

I'm not sure why you left out Landry's 2010 season.

Other than that, switch Landry '09 and Broyles 2010, plus add Mark Clayton '03 or '04 and you should be good

I wasn't sure which one would fit the best. I put Landry's freshmen season in instead because I thought Broyle's season this past year deserved to be in there.

I don't know. Have to have Mark Clayton somewhere in the top 12.

Had him in there. Then I realized White's 40 TD season wasn't in there.

I know Nate gets a lot of crap from people, but I think I would swap him and Bomar around, or try to replace Bomar on the list all together. Nate had better stats across the board (except rushing yards), better win/loss record, and won OU a cotton bowl.

Did you really put Rhett Bomar on that list?!?

i wouldn't even mention bomar on an OU board.

all of the above in bold happened within a players first two years on campus. Keep feeding these coaches talent and we will keep winning.

I questioned Bomar and Hybl too. Then I noticed SoonerofAlabama was showing one player per football year. So who do you think should replace Bomar in 2005 and Hybl in 2001?

2001 should be Rocky or Roy

It's a little different than the monster seasons of many of the guys posted, but sure would like to see another season by a player like that of Antonio Perkins and his season of kick and punt returns.

He won the heisman his junior year.

Nope...he won it his first Sr season.

2001 you should throw in Roy Williams. He was getting Heisman praise from a strong safety position.

2005 should simply be the coaching staff. How OU didn't have a 5-7 that year w/ the way that team started is beyond me.

Rhett Bomar does not belong on that list. And defensive players like Roy Williams in 2001 deserve a mention.

I must have slept during Jason's season as a wide receiver.

What about Derrick Strait? I agree Roy Williams needs to be on there somewhere before Bomar.

Can we also mention Q. Griffen scored a record 6 rushing touchdowns in a game. Remind me again who we played that game...

so, are you guys saying the year Jason white won the heisman or the following year?

cuz what's listed is the year after his heisman. If you wanna list his second senior year his junior year should be right behind it or before it.

The 40/10 year listed was his Heisman year. Check the link:

http://soonerstats.com/football/recordbook/player/pass_season.cfm

His 2004 season wasn't as statistically good becasue you had AD running the ball so much.

I would put Broyles in there for 2009 too. He is responsible for Landry's numbers being what they were. He had a TON of YAC in 2009.

okay, now I'm clear. His first senior campaign is the one listed. I obviously thought that was his best year too but was confused by the tactics here.
So, I wanted to act tough till I figured it out or you explained it to me.

JW threw the prettiest deep balls that heisman year. I remember him hitting brandon jones in the throwback game to start the year and thinking that had to be a fluke but the guy could really put it on the spot.

I'd throw Stephen Alexander in there. Maybe Travian Smith. But, in any case, the list was mighty small.

I would have to say Antonio Perkins 3 punt return TD's against UCLA ranks as the single most impressive performance by a Sooner...ever.
